Tony was very professional from the word go - his quote had everything broken out, and his price was competitive.  He came and killed our existing "lawn" (weeds) himself, and then called about a week and a half later to schedule the sod installation which he was able to do earlier than we originally planned.  His crew showed up on time on the day of installation and was friendly and professional - and ended up getting the entire job done in one day (we expected the sod to be done the following day).  They did an excellent job installing the beds and sod and cleaned up after themselves.  They paid attention to detail and even set our irrigation system to water according to the schedule they recommend for new sod.  Excellent job!

Overall, I called Tony for questions and he sent over his foreman , Chris and gave me Chris number to call if any problems came about. Many time s any calls were ignored. After the maintainance contract was finished, we called for advice ignored again.Well, this year 2012  , we were in the process of putting  on an addition to our house and we get a call from the town that we could not get a permit for this new work because the irrigation system had never been inspectied. I explained to the town that I did indeed pay for  a meter and plumbing permit and for RPZ backflow certification inspection on 7/7/2010. The town told me there was nothing they could do. That I had to call the plumber and or Tony Norris and tell them that I was calling the state if they did not respond to me in 30 min. Well both the plumber and tTony Norris did respond. The plumber came right out, I guess he didn't want his license in jeapordy. The plumber said he had Never been in this neighborhood and that he was never called by Norris Lanscaping to certify the backflow. He had leant his license # to Tony to help me out.  So in the end we found Tony Norris to be dishonest in his business practices. SO BEWARE!!!!!!
Response from Norris Landscaping Services Inc
"The one part that is true about this statement is that we overlooked gettting the backflow certified. We tried numerous times to show the homeowner how to adjust heads but for some reason they just didnt understand and everytime a head got out of adjustment they would call. Our contract didnt cover coming out but 4 times a year. Since the plumber has to do the certification it is there job to follow up and get this certified. Utimately it is my job to make sure it was taken care of but as soon as she called we were out to correct the problem."

Tony came out for the estimate and spent time finding out exactly what we needed/wanted.  He was prompt and gave good advice.  His crew came and sprayed to kill the existing greenery (mostly weeds).  After about 10 days, the crew came and removed the dead grass and weeds, dug the trenches, and laid the pipe.  The company took care of paperwork, etc. required by the city.  so the city crew did their part, the plumber did his part, and the inspection was done...all with no effort on our part.  Then the crew arrived right on time on the day planned to connect the system and lay the sod.  We left home with just dirt and returned to a fully sodded green lawn.  We were given instructions as to how to operate the irrigation system and to care for the lawn.

When we contacted Tony of Norris Landscaping, he came over to assess our situation and gave us recommendations.  We were considering other options, but decided to go with sod.  Tony gave us a very fair bid for our 18,000 square feet of property.  We had to wait several weeks to get it scheduled, but this worked out fine with us as the weather was not as warm as we would prefer anyhow.  Once the process began, his staff was very particular at getting the lawn prepared properly.  They spent a lot of time getting the yard properly graded and corrected some problem areas we had in the past.  Tony was great about making sure we were satisfied with the installation and was quick to solve any questions we had.  We are so pleased with the entire project.  His employees were very detailed oriented and took a lot a pride in their work.  It was all cleaned up when they left the property also.  We would highly recommend Norris Landscaping.

The front of my lot has several sections with the potential for grass, the largest of which is about 10x50 feet, but my many trees give enough shade that it's difficult for most grass to grow. It is mostly dry dirt dotted with weeds. Whenever I would mow the weeds, I kicked up clouds of dirt. Wanting a lawn but not having the tools or time to till, amend and seed, I called a professional. Tony is punctual and courteous. He started and finished when he said he would and did what he said he would. However, it is not clear to me how much experience he has with zenith. Seeding directions for zenith say to cover the seed with a light layer of dirt because it needs light to germinate. However, to retain moisture, Tony covered the seed with wheat straw, which was several inches thick in about 1/3 of the area. After watering the straw-covered area for 1 week, I had 2-inch high wheat growing across the area. After 4 weeks, I saw tiny blades of grass growing in the few areas where the wheat straw was sparse, while the wheat plants were getting to be nearly a foot high. At this point I decided to remove all the straw, which I did by raking and sucking up with the lawn mower. There was no grass growing under the wheat; in fact, much of the wheat straw was stuck to the dirt due to the watering. When I contacted Tony some 4 months later to ask how the situation would be resolved, he took no ownership of the problem. Now, nearly a year after the job was done, my yard is still a dustbowl when I mow.
Response from Norris Landscaping Services Inc
"The member did contact me and asked if there was a warranty for the seeding we had done last summer. I told him that there was no warranty on seeding because heavy rains could wash it, winds could blow it, and birds can pick it up. Also if it is not watered correctly i could easily be replanting this several times. I told him it would take up to 3 years for a zoysia lawn to get established from seed and reccommended sodding instead of seeding. The zoysia doesn't start takingg off good to the second year and probably will have a decent lawn next year."

Very difficult to get a call back after paid for year's service contract.Left numerous messages on answering machine and with wife and waited weeks to hear back. Did not show up for service when said would be there. Discontinued service contract in spring of 2010.
Response from Norris Landscaping Services Inc
"This member didn't get our name through Angie's List, but through the builder that constructed her house in 2008 and just recently posted this message. We did sign an irrigation contract with her and performed half of the contract. She owed us for a irrigation hot box that had to be installed since the builder would not pay for it. We got her the box and billed her. We never got reimbursed and ceased work from that point on."

The job was perfomed in a timely manner. The trees were in good shape when planted and have done well since then in spite of the heat and lack of rain for the first several weeks. A couple of other landscapers have comented to me on what a good job was done with the trees. I am especially appreciative of Mr. Norris taking the time to help me select the best kind of tree for my purposes and then giving me good advice on how to care for them.

Met with Tony early in the year, but wet weather prevented (at my request) completion of work until this spring. Tony honored his original estimate made five months earlier. He also worked was flexible enough to do the work when weather was ground was drive to minimize lawn damage.

I changed the project scope a few times and added extras to the original project but they were able to integrate my needs. We had a few problems with the weather, and because of the gradient where the retaining wall was being placed, this caused a few issues but still did not prevent them from delivering projects on time.

They did a great job. The irrigation system was installed in one day. It took a couple of days to get the necessary inspections complete, but once the inspector came, they filled in the trenches. Tony took care of all the permits and made sure everything worked properly. Once the irrigation was complete, his very efficient crew stripped off the old grass and installed the new sod in one day. I think the best part of the experience was the great attitude of Tony's foreman, Chris and the crew. After all was done, Tony spent some time with me to be sure I new how to maintain the irrigation system and the new sod. I also asked Tony to move a few evergreens and plant new ones. They did this quickly and properly. All in all, because of Tony's knowledge, experience and professionalism, the whole project was a great experience. I would use them again and would strongly recommend Norris Landscaping.
