Recent Garage Building Reviews in Portland

As always, this team did a great job. This time, they replaced some damaged siding, a problem they identified while renovating our garage last year. They also arranged for a faulty screen door to be serviced. They are professional, responsive and do quality work with quality materials. We are always confident that they will do a great job, and look forward to working with them again

  • Superior Building Concepts LLC
We would highly recommend Superior Building Concepts for your next project. After many over priced quotes, underpriced quotes with a wink and a nod to do this small job without permit, or contractors that stopped by to provide a quote that we never heard from again we received a referral from Angie's list for Superior Building Construction. Stan came by, gave us a reasonable quote then followed up with a very professional and complete contract. We signed with Superior and were pleasantly surprised with the continued professionalism. We received compete drawings with architectural choices. After our selection, it was put through the permit process. At each point we received proper communication from Stan. Once construction began, Stan was there managing the subcontractors and working alongside. We were delighted with each subcontractor Stan brought on board. They were all punctual, courteous and cleaned up everything after their respective jobs were complete. With Covid supply shortages you can imagine some of the issues that arose, but with each roadblock Stan communicated with us and we worked out satisfactory work arounds. This remodel was a pleasant experience and Stan and his team made the difference. You can be confident in your project if you select Superior Building Concepts

  • Portland Value Shed
Not well. After a two month delay in construction beyond the owner's control, the shed did get built. While the shed appears similar to the website photos two issues stood out: (1) There's no preparation for the shed's base. The area could have been easily leveled; instead he constructed the shed at ground elevation and then leveled it using bricks (it looks as janky as it sounds); (2) the roof is just a piece of tar paper. While there's been no leakage it makes the shed look like a double-wide outhouse.; and (3) the estimate he gave comes with no shelves. The extra wood and labor cost over $600. Believe me, I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but the kicker was that the shed door latch was missing a bolt. After making the final payment, the owner promised to drop it off the next day. Over seven weeks later, after multiple phone messages and texts, after a promise from the owner to Fedex to me, I've still haven't received the bolt. Frankly, I wouldn't have written any review, even though I plan to tear the shed down later this summer. But not sending the bolt is just frickin' unprofessional

  • The Crew Construction and Plumbing LLC
Things went well over all. We had one or two miscommunications but the Crew did the work that we agreed on and the finished product was solid. My shed looks beautiful!

  • Lo's Contracting, Inc.
Working with Amadou and Marlon was so smooth and easy. They were both very professional and easy to work with and I enjoyed meeting them and feel very fortunate that I found them! Lo's helped me convert what used to be a garage/carport in to a walled-in workshop. They turned the job around super quickly and did excellent work, they were able to work with me even though I had a small budget, and they even came back to fix a punchlist thing which I really appreciated. I would 100% recommend them and hire them again

  • De Marco Builders Inc
Joe DeMarco and his incredibly dedicated crew of craftsmen built a shed and gazebo for the Peninsula Optimist Club, a non-profit that I serve and support, in North Portland. He generously performed the work at cost and went above and beyond by providing the Club with the highest quality of materials, floor to roof, so that the structure stands for decades to come! Joe did all of this for a program that inspires hope and optimism in local youth programming within the actual community he grew up in, in the neighborhood where he and his wife now reside. Thank you, DeMarco Builders, for investing in our youth! I wanted a similar shed built on our property on the Clackamas River, but worried that it might be too small of a job to ask DeMarco Construction to take on. Joe did not disappoint! He made sure to listen to what I had in mind and allowed me to be a part of the design conversation. Let me rephrase that - the owner of the company communicated directly with me about my vision for our project! Within weeks of firming up the plan, materials were delivered and Diego, one of DeMarco Construction’s crew leaders, and his carpenters showed up bright and early one morning last month and two and a half days later, my 11’x18’ storage shed was built and ready to fill!! Like the one he built for the Peninsula Optimist Club, I expect this one to stand against the elements of the Clackamas River for, at least, the rest of my life

Spectacular! Marlin showed up on time and got right to work replacing the dry rot. Garage doesn't look like it's drunk anymore! :) Very pleased.

  • Lo's Contracting, Inc.
I have had work done before by this provider (built garage) and was so pleased with that project that I had no doubts about hiring Lo's for a painting job. I actually called at the end of summer last year and Amadou quickly came over to look over the project and I received his bid within a day. Unfortunately, the good weather season was turning quickly to a very rainy fall, so I decided to put off the project until the spring. Since we had a very warm February, Lo's called me to schedule the cleaning and paint job. Everything went very well. There was one surprise with the realization that part of the "trim" under the gutters was in fact aluminum. This needed a different paint and paint preparation than the wood trim. Lo's took care of this extra work professionally without question as that area was part of the bid even though it turned out to not be wood. I am very pleased with this job. My house hasn't looked this good in years. One added point I'd like to mention, is that while looking at the two attic windows that were painted, I noticed a piece of flashing that was coming off my roof. Without hesitation, the painter said if I have a couple of nails, he will fix the flashing for me. I really appreciated that extra customer service

  • Lo's Contracting, Inc.
I called Lo's Contracting on April 15, 2013 to schedule a free estimate for demolition and rebuild of my single car garage. Amadou came out on April 23 and discussed my plans. He recommended that I speak with a designer so that I can get help on my ideas for the new garage. I met with the designer Prem of Premier Design that afternoon. I was pleased with what he recommended doing and hired him to draft the designs for my garage. He did that and got the permits and now I was ready to call several contractors for their bids. I researched thoroughly six other contractors besides Lo's. I read all the reviews on Angie's list, BBB and checked the past 7 years of results from their licenses. Lo's Contracting was the only contractor that never had a dispute, had a perfect rating on Angie's list and an A+ rating from BBB. I decided to go with Lo's Contracting and met with Amadou to discuss the Scope of Work and the costs. The bid was within my expectations and budget. The first phase of the work was Demolition: This involved prep for Demolition according to the new Laid law by OSHA, EPA, DEQ and CCB guidelines for disturbing lead based paint. They covered the perimeter with 4 mills plastic, demolished the garage in one day and haulled and disposed of the debris. The City's inspection for demolition was approved without issue. The second phase was excavation / foundation: They removed the existing concrete slab, and excavated for the new foundation and garage floor including pouring floor gavel and compact. Inspection was again approved and the foundation concrete was poured. The third phase was Framing: The framing went up (structural post, beam and roof). It was approved. (I was allowed to go to Lowe's to pick my windows and side door and that was also installed at this point). The garage door was something very special Amadou did for me. I wanted the swing doors that opened but the cost to make that was far more expensive than a roll up. Amadou promised me that my roll up door would be easy to use and he'd make it look like the swing-type doors. He exceeded my expectations with this. The next process included putting on the siding (house wrap vapor barrier and siding to match house), exterior painting, and stain for garage door, roofing to include vents, sheeting and shingles to match house and gutters with drainage to side garden. At the onset, I did not want electricity in my garage as I didn't think I needed it, so that cost was not figured into the bid. However, the City required electricity and so I had to have it done. The added cost of this was not added to the original bid, instead, because I am a senior and eligible for a discount, the added cost was absorbed in the discount and the bid estimate was exactly what I paid. Throughout the whole project, Amadou stayed in close contact with me. He visited regularly, called or emailed almost daily. The sub-contractors he used and his employees were all friendly and hard-working. The weather was hot and yet, they did not waste any time, staying at task. A port-a-potty was provided for the workers and it was regularly cleaned out. I had no problems with any part of this project. I will use Lo's Contracting again. My family and friends are also quite interested in using Lo's. This was an extremely positive experience
