"AMAZING!! It's so important to partner with exceptional professionals (accountants, lawyers, financial advisors, builders, etc) and Eric is most certainly one of these. He is very professional, showed up in person to give me an estimate, his team did an exceptional job, and he showed up in person again to make sure the work met my expectations. I am incredibly happy with my fence; it is a work of art! I would highly recommend Eric and his team for any project you have in mind. Book early, as talent requires that you may have to wait!"

"We started off by getting bids from four separate contractors. Stan's bid was somewhere in the middle price wise but I find that it isn't always best to go with the lowest bid. Some contractors will give you low bids just to get their foot in the door, leaving things out like permits etc.. I felt Stan gave an honest and well thought out price. I also like to see what kind of vibe I get from a contractor when I'm speaking with them. If they seem like a used car salesman, just telling me what I want to hear, then that's a great indicator to avoid at all costs. I didn't get that vibe with Stan at all. He seemed very honest and to the point which I like.
Once contracts were signed the project started and went very smoothly. Stan projected, if I remember correctly, that it would take around six weeks for the conversion and that's about how long it took. I've heard horror stories from other people about contractors disappearing, during a project, for long lengths of time and taking forever to complete the project but I can tell you this was not the case with Stan and Superior Building Concepts.  Every time I sent Stan an email with a question/concern it was addressed immediately, and, as was stated earlier, our garage conversion was completed in the projected time frame.
Ultimately, working with Stan and Superior Building Concepts was a great experience. The garage conversion looks great and has become a heavily used addition to our home. I would recommend Superior Building Concepts to anyone seeking a contractor and would/will definitely use them again.

"John, owner of JAW Construction, is a personable earnest contractor who goes beyond what is expected to make sure you are satisfied. He first replaced a laminate floor in the kitchen when we had a leak that ruined it. He found the leak--a punctured water supply line to the refrigerator and disconnected it, since the ice maker is non functional. He suggested a Luxury Vinyl floor (wood simulated) because it would not be damaged by water. The job was quick, expert, and very reasonably priced. So when we decided to replace worn and animal stained carpet with a wood or laminate floor last November, we called JAW. Again, John recommended a Luxury Tile Floor again because it would resist dog pee or cat hairball flem, if not noticed for a period of time. We went with Cortec again through a distributor John recommended and got a floor with the thickest clear wear protection. Whole install took four days for a 1200 s.f. home and it looks beautiful. No flaws, he even got woodwork professionally stained in a modern style as we went with a dark wood design. Workers were professional, cleaned up and left home in perfect condition. Definitely would hire again."

"This company was great, It took a bit of communication back and forth, do to my lack of knowing just how these things get done.. Thanks to Mary in sales and customer service, we were able to come up with an estimate for services. I accepted the bid and the guys were at my home at 8 AM on the appointed day ready to get started. I was barely out of bed yet, because who ever heard of workman to be prompt these days? Well these guys were!!! They came in, put up dust screening and got to work.. It was a tricky install were the counter had to be widened on both sides of the old drop in range (27 inch) space and counter formica maybe 40 yrs.old had to be cut, hard to do without chipping.. A few hours later they brought in the new range (30 inch stand alone slide in) and went out of their way to make sure the right electric receptacle was installed, and in went the range.. They thoroughly cleaned up the work space and picked up all the cardboard from unwrapping the new range in the garage. I would highly recommend this company and team, they were outstanding.. At a very reasonable cost, (way under bid) considering I didn't have to replace my perfectly good kitchen cabinets just to have a new range.. DN homeowner.. A very happy customer !!"

"The decision to remodel carries with it a big commitment of time, energy, and money. There are many choices you will have to make, but the most important decision is who to hire as your contractor. We chose Ron Houghton of R3J Residential Services because he was the best match for us. Ron was so easy to communicate with. He listened to our ideas and offered many helpful suggestions. We highly recommend R3J and Ron Houghton to anyone needing an excellent contractor. Dick & Judy Caldwell"

"Let me start by saying, this ADU project was for my daughter, Macy. Macy has I/DD and Autism and will likely not be able to live away from us, her parents, unless she is in assisted living of some sort. However, together with her grandma we sought to create an environment for her to live as independently as possible and for her to grow into. This began our search for the perfect contractor who would understand our needs and work with us to build this ADU for Macy. Enter, Jay Bemis with Timeless Builders. After multiple meetings with contractors, many unreturned calls and emails, we met Jay. He immediately sounded interested and returned with a bid in a timely matter. We accepted this bid and began to move forward with this project. As with any construction project, we ran into unexpected situations. I could not have picked a better partner to handle all of these situations. He maintained focus on finding solutions, worked magic to make things happen that we wanted and came up with additional creative ideas when we couldn’t. He is a true craftsman and he employs the most amazing people! The pandemic hit during our project and he was respectful of our request to wear masks when entering our home. They continued the work and Jay was open about end dates and timelines. If you are looking to start a project, I can tell you that Jay Bemis and his team at Timeless Builders is who you want to partner with. Their work exceeded our expectations, their friendliness was an added bonus and the end result blew us away. Don’t think twice, contact Jay with Timeless Builders, he will help you get your project done right."

Garages questions, answered by experts

We recommend plywood and solid wood. Particleboard and MDF (medium-density fiberboard) are often too weak to hold significant loads, and could sag or deform under pressure. Plywood or solid wood are meant to last, and can handle the weight of several large items. If you want to spend a little more for a moisture-resistant material, you can consider using steel.

If you're cleaning out your garage, taking everything out first and starting with a clean slate can help. Reviewing what you have and what you want to get rid of makes organizing your garage, thoroughly cleaning the space, and making any repairs easier. When you put back the items you’re keeping, use designated storage solutions to make it easier to find things and keep them tidy.

Garage door sensors work by using infrared beams to detect objects in the door’s path. One sensor sends a beam while the other receives it. When the beam is broken—say, by your car or anything else—the sensors signal the door to stop or reverse. It’s all about safety and making sure nothing gets trapped under the door. If they’re misaligned, the beam doesn’t connect, and the garage door might stay open or close regardless of obstructions.

There are several reasons garage door cables can come off multiple times. The most common reason is that the springs have too much or too little tension and require adjusting. Other causes include track alignment issues that keep the door from operating correctly or smoothly. A damaged winding drum or obstructions in the cable's way can also cause it to come loose.

Yes, a single garage door with an 8-foot width is considered standard. This will be the size needed if you are upgrading a garage door in nearly any standard-sized residential garage. If you are building a garage from scratch that you intend to use for parking a large truck, SUV, or RV, you can consider extending the width to 10 feet to make parking easier.
