"Everything went as perfectly as you could possibly hope for! From the initial evaluation, to the detailed cost estimates, to beginning and finishing the work, all was accomplished with impressive professionalism. When there was a small glitch (and there is always some glitch), they stepped right in to remedy the situation, all to our complete satisfaction. When some black grout stained some white woodwork in the hall, they sent out a painter to repaint! when a clock and towel bar in the bathroom was to be rehung on very expensive glass tile, they sent out a technician to drill and do the install (perfectly, I will add!). When an install on a lighting fixture resulted in a hole in the drywall (not Carifa's fault) they immediately sent out a handy man to re-spackle and repair the hole! What more could you want. The quality of the work was A+. They all receive our highest recommendation."

"Put in for quotes through Angi's List - and within 5 minutes, Emily called to let me know that someone could be on site in 60 minutes. Xavier showed up and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. 30 minutes later I had a new sump pump and we were good to go. I'm very happy with the pricing and experience. One of the best interactions I've had with a company for home repair. Would definitely recommend to others."

"The gentleman promptly answered the phone but told me, after I explained what I needed done, they were 3-4 weeks out with new installations and wouldn't have time for a repair. Unfortunately I wanted to get a price for installing 2-3 other areas with wood flooring but I didn't share that at the time. He was professional but they are listed as doing repairs under the Angies List description. Disappointing. Updated 8/26/2019; Wood floor repair from a refrigerator water line leak. Review Text: UPDATE: I had initially given Krumlauf Floors an "F" based on our first conversation. Landan Krumlauf reached out to me and he and his father came out to give me a quote on the repair. They scheduled a date that was convenient for me and went over the amount of wood I needed and where to make the purchase. They were to be here at 8:30 today and they were in my driveway at 8:30. They were both polite, professional and explained what they would be doing as the repair was made. The work was done and it looks GREAT!! I really didn't expect the repair to turn out this good. They are really good at what they do. All leftover materials were removed, they cleaned up and even moved the refrigerator back in the kitchen. My experience with them was great and I would recommend you use them for your next flooring job. Thanks for a job well done."

"Chris with Friesen Family Renovations, LLC was very professional and thorough in the work he has completed. He installed a new screen door, replaced my tub stem and faucet, repaired my subfloor in the kitchen and installed brand new LVP flooring to replace old and water damaged flooring. He also mounted a television for me, and did some drywall repairs as well. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for quality and dependable work!"

"Before I got the job done, I had four different companies come out and look at the project. Tile-Life came out quickly, gave me a price on the spot, and stated they could begin as soon as I was ready. Their price was the best and their work was superb. I will definitely use them again if I ever need this type of work. Professional, prompt, experienced and at an unbeatable price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

"We are extremely pleased with the work that was done. Tim was very professional, worked in a timely manner and left my house clean at the end of each day. He helped me with the tile design and questioned me, when needed, to make sure he was doing what I wanted."

Tile Repair FAQs

The average cost of installing tile is around $2,000, ranging between $400 and $6,500, depending on the type of tile, square footage of tile, and whether or not your tiling contractor performs site preparation, like removing old tile. On average, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 per square foot, largely depending on the type and quality of the tiles you choose. For example, ceramic and travertine tile cost about $1 per square foot, but luxury tile options like marble cost up to $350 per square foot, not including labor.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost the value of your home. Tile is a highly durable and attractive building material, and savvy buyers will know they’re getting a low-maintenance flooring or wall covering that can last for 75 years or more. Keep in mind that the return on investment from tiling your bathroom will likely be higher if a professional tile installer does the work. Tiling is a complicated job, and mistakes will be very evident and detract from the appearance and value of the finished work.

On average, you can expect the tiling in your bathroom to take around 12 hours, usually spread over at least two to three days. The process can take longer if your tile installer needs to remove old tile first. Tiling a floor takes around six hours, and tiling the shower area often takes six to 10 hours. Some factors that affect the length of the project include the type of tile, the layout of your bathroom, and any prep work that your installer needs to do beforehand. It’s best to have an alternate bathroom available during the process.

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

To find a local tile installer, your first step is to connect with professionals in your area and interview them. Ask the following questions to get a sense of their experience and ability:

  • How many years have you been in business?

  • Do you have a list of references I can contact?

  • What materials—tile, thinset, and mortar—will you use?

  • Does your pricing include materials and labor?

  • How long will my bathroom or kitchen be out of commission while you work?

Then, compare prices to find the best value for your investment.
