Tile Contractor Reviews Near You

Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services Inc
They recommended Mosaic Tile from Lorton, VA for the tile since the billing would flow through Kramer and Sons (a convenience). We chose porcelain tile for its look and wear characteristics. The work went very well, and the end result was outstanding. We are completely satisfied with all the work done by Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services, Inc.

S & S Ceramic Tile
S&S Ceramic & Marble recently installed a mosaic stone and brick tile backsplash in our kitchen, and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. We got three estimates for the job. Ali Rajabi, the proprietor of S&S, gave us a thorough explanation of the work he planned, and his bid came in significantly lower than the "discounted" prices offered by other contractors. He arrived on time, had some kind words for our curious dogs and patiently answered my questions about the installation. Ali completed the installation on the first day and returned the next day (after the adhesive had set) to apply grout. He took great care to protect our new countertops and minimize dirt and dust; our kitchen was clean when the work was done. The result was a beautiful, well-crafted backsplash that perfectly complements our new countertops. We recommend S&S very highly for ceramic tile work.

There was a free design consultant who basically helped us pick up tile and design our bathroom. She picked up the tile and the grout. She calculated how much tile we needed of each different tiles. She put it on an order invoice. When we decided if we wanted it or not, we just called the store and said we wanted the tile and then we ordered it. Their customer service was excellent and their showroom was pretty nice too. They had a huge selection of tiles. They had any kind of tile we wanted and if they didn't have it they could order it.

S & S Ceramic Tile
Ali did a marvelous job. He was helpful in selecting appropriate tile and grout that matched. He worked hard and was careful to level each piece of tile. The room is gorgeous. I highly recommend him.

Versa-Tile & Marble Group
I had gone to two contractors before calling Versa-Tile and was nearly ready to give up. The floor to be tiled was in a very small powder room so it clearly wasn't a priority with those two companies. Then I called Versa-Tile. They came to the house to do an estimate within 2 business days and, because my schedule was quite short, installed the tile 3 days later despite their very busy pre-holiday schedule. The estimator suggested improvements in my plan in order to make the tile more symmetric in the room--a big improvement! The price for the installation was very reasonable--less than half the estimate given me by another provider--and they agreed to work within my (now short) schedule. The installer showed up promptly, was very professional, and did a terrific job with the tiles. It was clear that they take pride in their work. I am thrilled with the work they did and the attention paid to this very small job. Clearly they use the same care and quality with the very small jobs as they would with a larger, more typical one. I would recommend this company highly to anyone looking for a tile company, this was a very positive experience. Outstanding work!

We had gone to a few tile stores prior to Mosaic. The other tile stores acted as if they were doing us a favor helping us. One store even stopped talking to us because our 30 minutes were up! We found Jason at Mosaic Tile. We found that he actually cared about our needs. He took the time to help find the tiles that would work for us. We never felt rushed. It was definitely a positive experience. We will definitely use Mosaic again along with working with Dennis.

They were very helpful. A contractor had recommended them. I would recommend them. The store has a lot of product lines and good samples. The person I met with was very professional and made very good suggestions. They understood what we were trying to do and it was within the price range.

Daltile is a tile distributor. They have a store; but they only deal with contractors. I didn't use them because I ordered $700 worth of tile but when it came in, it wasn't at all what I ordered. They were resistant to our returning the tile even though it looked nothing like the tile we ordered.

Tile Center
Based upon store displays, I bought tile for my sun porch from Tile Center. When the tile arrived, the manufacturer had changed the color scheme, and I was very disappointed with the new color variation -- but the Tile Center salesperson, Eddie, went right to work finding boxes from past shipments that matched the colors as I'd planned. We were under a very tight time frame because subcontractor was waiting for tile. Eddie personally delivered tiles to make sure that I got the correct color and quantity for my project. Tile boxes of exact match were delivered on time due to extraordinary effort by Tile Center. I am most pleased with their attention to customer service and quality control.

They were very friendly and they had a design center. They let me bring home some tile to test it out. My contractor purchased the tile there and I would shop there again.

There were two people on duty. They were very attentive and knowledgable. The prices were between $.50 to $2.00 cheaper than the next vendor I was considering. I would use them again.

Absolute Flooring
We are absolutely thrilled with our new floors! Will and his team provide professional, quality services at a reasonable price. The crew lead for our project was outstanding as well. He worked with me to lay the tile before installation to ensure the layout and design was exactly what I envisioned. As the project progressed, he showed me their work and made sure I was satisfied. We will definitely use their services again and I would highly recommend them.

Architectural Ceramics
ARCHITECTURAL CERAMICS has the best selection of tile in the area. We looked an many stores but their tile was the best. The tile was top of the line so it cost more than a home store. I was willing to pay more for the tile since it was of superior quality. The tile will last for 20 years.

Collins Tile & Stone
A very professional job installing 8'X36" wood-look tile. Squeaks were addressed, a premium underlayment was used and the floor is gorgeous and has a sturdy feel to it. From start to cleanup it was a great experience. This company also did a master bathroom renovation for us several years ago and the quality of that job convinced us to use them again.

However, we may have pros in another category that can help with your project.

Tiles are unique, flexible, and convenient flooring options for the home. They can breathe life into a dull kitchen, bathroom, or living room. Because they’re easy to customize, tiles can be designed for aesthetic appeal, water resistance, and ease of cleaning.

Cost of Tile floors

Tile flooring installation typically costs homeowners an average of $1758.

Depending on the type of tiles, the size of the home, and your flooring installer, expect to spend between $867-$2676. Installing tiles is often a more intricate process than other flooring materials may require. In addition to labor and material costs, factor in the sub-flooring and the pattern that will be used for laying individual tiles. Therefore, the size and shape of a room will significantly influence installation costs.

Common Types of Tiles

  • Ceramic/Porcelain: These are the most common tiling materials used in homes. Ceramic and porcelain are flexible, easy to modify, and cost-effective to install. Ceramic/porcelain tiles are water resistant for bathroom and kitchen applications, harder for temperature tolerance, or stain resistant for mudrooms and outdoor areas.
  • Marble: Marble tiles are elegant flooring materials. They mirror the look of natural stone while remaining durable and easy to customize.
  • Glass: Glass tiles are excellent for kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where you may want to add a flashy and attractive appearance. They hide stains well while preventing mold growth and water damage.
  • Metal: increasingly popular copper and stainless steel can grant old or modern looks.
  • Other Stone: Granite, Travertine, Slate and Limestone are options as well. If installing in a bathroom or kitchen, be sure to ask about sealing them to withstand moisture.

Working with Tile installers

Because laying tiles is a delicate process, always ensure you choose a contractor who has adequate experience and expertise. Here are some tips:

  • Obtain at least three estimates to ensure a competitive price in your area.
  • Do a moderate background check - read reviews and ratings online.
  • Ask for a portfolio of their previous work and references from prior customers.
  • Be aware of the type of tiles you need and their cost. This will make it easier to determine if the contractor is charging a fair price.

With proper care, tiles can last for up to 20 years with minimal maintenance. If you pick the right look and feel for your area, you might also add to the appeal when it comes time to sell your home. For example, Travertine and rustic options are more popular in the West, while more traditional options rule in the Eastern US.
