Overall the project had several problems and setbacks. We did not have a survey which cost 6 weeks,but we started in late January early February which we estimated start time of 6-8 weeks. The project did not start until late June.

We had a 10' x 12' single set of steps existing deck demolished & removed. It was replaced with a 12' x 12' w/single set of steps. We are extremely pleased with the appearance and quality of work. Even the inspector mentioned the high quality of the workmanship, stating it was the best deck he had inspected that day. He said it was obvious they were concerned with providing a quality product over just getting in and out as quickly as possible. They provided us with exactly what we wanted at a good price.

Absolutely would not recommend Backyard Gurus. I had a 10x12 deck with a single flight of straight run stairs replaced, as easy of a project that can be had. The quality of workmanship was very poor. The attached photos show only some of the issues and the solution by the owner is epoxy putty. The last photo shows the deck railing supports one side with two bolts and the other with one bolt. I was told that this project was the first project for a new project lead and that person no longer works for the company. My question is where was the new project lead oversight? Why was management not on sight most of the time to provide guidance. Very obvious to me that this crew has no idea as to what they are doing and clearly no work ethic.

Backyard Gurus replaced my deck with an enlarged deck that is extremely well built. They kept me informed while Durham approved the required permit and passed each required inspection without any delay.

Backyard Gurus scheduled a consultation quickly and was able to give us a quote in the same visit. The work started earlier than expected which was a bonus! Everything came together seamlessly from the delivery of the material and the staff who were prompt every day to complete our project. Tanner organized everything and followed up with us throughout the entire process. Everyone involved with the planning, removing the old deck and construction of the new deck were very professional. Our deck turned out more beautiful than I imagined. We are so happy we chose Backyard Gurus to complete our project. It was one of the best decisions we made and would most definitely recommend them to anyone.

Backyard Gurus resurfaced my wood deck and posts with composite boards and metal posts that included lights. David came out to estimate the job and helped me pick through several options. He was the third company to quote that day but was the only person that gave me a quote before he left which took about an hour total. Out of 5 companies that asked to quote and that came to my house, only 2 companies sent a quote and Backyard Gurus had the best price and truly understood what I wanted. Ethan, Tanner and crew were on time each day and were careful to clean everything up when they left. We made a great decision when we chose these guys for our job and have had many compliments about the design and the colors we chose. Iâ d definitely recommend this company!

Backyard Gurus went above and beyond for our dream deck and backyard experience. We wanted a larger than life deck and they made it happen. They did all the paperwork and permitting and once they dug the first hole, it was less than 2 weeks to completion. The craftsmanship is superb and I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

We had an outstanding experience using Backyard Gurus to resurface our deck with composite decking and aluminum rails. They also rebuilt a somewhat complicated privacy screen framed with 4X4 s and filled with double layered lattice, which others refused to build. They are a relatively new company owned by two brothers who have a customer-first approach. They have a GC license and clearly have extensive experience building decks. They used quality materials from higher-end vendors avoiding the box stores and took pride in their workmanship. We were pleased with their excellent communication, kind demeanor, and patience with our difficulty in making decisions. David visited us several times providing design advice and answering all questions to ensure we got what was best for us. Once started, Tanner oversaw our crew. He was on-site at least half of the time. The three-man crew was skilled and very respectful of us and our property. There was no sitting around, music, or loud talk, just work. Whenever any type of potential choice came up, Tanner would check with us to make sure they were doing it how we wanted. He kept us posted on scheduling of all work and deliveries. The project started and ended on time. Everyone was readily available by phone, text, and email. We highly recommend them.

Our experience with backyard gurus was incredible! From the initial quote to the beginning of install all the way through to the finished product. We never thought it would be done so efficiently and so expertly. We got our deck completed in a few short days with every little piece of our rotting deck removed and a wonderful composite deck installed with aluminum rails which I would highly recommend. Overall the entire project was done beyond expectations! Highly recommended!! Working with Tanner Craft was a real pleasure.

Needed a deck built. Had a rep out and an estimate provided the same day. They provided images of their other work, which looked phenomenal. Extremely happy with the outcome. Good communication and flexible with scheduling.

They did a great job! Responded right away, and David was at our house the next day with all the information and options. He showed us the rendering of our future deck in 3D and provided info and blueprints for our HOA approval application. The materials were ordered and delivered in just a week and the job scheduled as soon as the team was available. There was a misunderstanding on our part about materials for the railing, but the guys (Ethan and David) accommodated that last minute change (thanks!) and reordered them in vinyl just as we asked. Also, a small part of the vinyl trim got damaged, but they replaced it the very next day - no questions asked. The team worked very hard. The demolition and installation took only 2 days! We now have a nice new deck - thank you so much! We highly recommend this company.

As evidenced by my 5 rating for customer service, I do believe that a company that is responsive to a client's needs is the company I want, hands down.. If there's a problem, no matter what the scale, I want to know that they will take care of it quickly in a friendly, professional manner. Backyard Gurus has demonstrated this asset admirably.

I’d give 6 stars if I could…. As an out-of-state owner of a rental property, it’s much harder to find quality, reputable contractors than local owners, but Backyard Gurus came through to finish a deck for me that another contractor had abandoned. Tenant (who is an electrical contractor) reports they did great work.
