We are your local repair expert for sinking or cracked foundations, waterproofing of basements and crawlspaces and lifting cement sidewalks, driveways and patios. We serve the entire state of Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Idaho. We provide free estimates, please give us a call today. "A Healthy Home Starts with a Solid Foundation."

"Hired Davenport to extend the landscape drain bypass they put in ten years ago that was backing up further downstream during heavy storms. After the storm today no backup at all. Their meticulous work exceeded expectations, ensuring proper sloping with smooth drain pipe less likely to clog. They even avoided three sprinkler lines in the way, hauled away the excess dirt, and didn’t even get dirt on the lawn. I can barely see where the work was done."

Foundation Repair questions, answered by experts

No, foundation repair is not usually covered by home insurance. Most home insurance companies typically consider foundation repair as part of your home maintenance, so they won’t cover the cost. However, foundation damage is sometimes caused by covered events such as a burst pipe or a house fire. In these cases, repairs may be covered.

Regularly inspecting your foundation—at least the visible sections—for signs of foundation issues like moisture and pest infestation is a good way to identify slab leaks early, as is keeping an eye and ear out for water damage to indoor building materials, above-average water bills, sounds of running water when no fixtures or appliances are on, and indoor humidity that causes the temperatures to feel more extreme. If you do find any issues, contact a plumber right away to check it out for you.

A leak under your foundation from a water supply line or sewage line is likely to lead to water pooling on certain areas of your property during rainfall, abnormally fast-growing or green grass in certain sections of your lawn, and differential settlement of your foundation, which can result in large foundation cracks, windows and doors failing to operate properly, a wavy or sloping roofline, or damages or irregularities in your interior walls, including cracks and bulging. If it’s a plumbing line embedded in your slab, you’ll also likely notice above-average water bills.

The most cost-effective foundation repair is using masonry patches and sealants to seal foundation cracks and offer some support to prevent further damage. These methods are used to fix minor foundation cracks quickly. However, they’re not suitable as a long-term solution, and they only offer minimal stability. On average, masonry patches and sealants cost $500, but a sealant like an epoxy crack injection can total over $2,000. If you’re handy and only looking for a temporary solution until you contact a local foundation repair contractor for a more permanent one, you can save hundreds by DIYing this repair.

You can use a level or straight-edge to test for plumb foundation walls and a level slab, a level or a ball to check for sloping floors inside your home, and a hygrometer to look for moisture in your underhome area. Aside from these DIY tests, it’s important to get a foundation repair specialist or structural engineer to test the foundation to see if it’s supporting your structure properly. They can determine if the loads on the concrete are uneven or need reinforcement.
