Rusty's Tree Service is owned and operated by Rusty Adshade." I have been in the tree business for 37 years. We are great at two things - 1. Safely removing trees in an efficient manner. This cannot be done by inexperienced personnel. That is why I am present on every job we do. 2. Making trees beautiful. We are artists! We shape trees with the eye of a diamond cutter. Each tree has branches that need to be removed and branches that must stay in order to attain its most perfect shape. Proper fertilizer and pest control, when needed, will maintain the health of your trees." Call us, the estimate is free. Rusty's Tree Service carries $5,000,000 in liability insurance. Our professionals are covered with Worker's Compensation so that you can experience our services with peace of mind.

At Bull Moose Land Services we have a relatively small crew - 3 to 8, depending on the job - but we still have a diverse array of specialties, from tree services to irrigation. In fact, our specialty is fire mitigation, especially in places like cabin homes that reside in heavily forested areas. A fire-mitigation job can range from simple to complex: we might just collect debris (i.e., fuels) from the ground and haul them off or stack to burn in the winter or we may have large numbers of trees to cut and remove in addition to installation of fire-mitigation irrigation systems. We have experience working in many cities in Wyoming, including Jackson, Laramie, Casper, and Cheyenne, but we will also work in neighboring states.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If the tree is very small—under 4 or 5 inches in diameter—and you’re experienced handling a chainsaw, you may be able to cut down the tree on your own, provided there’s plenty of room for it to fall.

However, felling even small trees can be dangerous, and it’s always advisable to have a spotter on hand. This will help make sure the tree doesn’t fall the wrong way or that branches aren’t about to fall on you while you’re working.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

Whether you choose to chisel and hammer, chainsaw, or burn your tree stump to hollow it out, always use protective goggles and thick gloves. Splinters are an inevitable risk. Having a power drill with a diameter of at least ⅜ inch also makes the job quicker and easier.

Tree borers are difficult to control and remove once they make a home in your tree. However, with patience and determination, some methods can slow the damage or even eliminate the pests. But, once the damage is too much for the tree to handle, the only solution becomes removing it. Talk to a tree specialist early for the best chance at saving your tree.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.
