"Handyman connections added stairs to one of my decks on a new construction home. The stairs look absolutely amazing. They also had the county inspect their work to ensure the work meets code. And the project was completed within the estimated budget. Kudos to the entire team to include Bruce, the craftsman that did most of the work on site."

Small jobs welcome

"I am a rental property owner and live out of state and only had pictures of over grown trees and shrubs. Nathan was willing to work with me as I changed my mind about the scope of the job. He was always on site when he said he would be and did an excellent job trimming some shrubs and tree limbs. He sent pictures of the work that he did. My tenant was also pleased with the job. Nathan seems to be a very honest man and I recommend using him for yard work or whatever else you need help with."

Customers say: Quick response

"I had a small electrical problem that i couldnâ t not find the problem. After explaining this issue to no less then 5 electric companies in the area, none of them called me back or followed up. My assumption is the job was just too small for them to be bothered. After signing up on Angi i got a call within 5 minutes from Matt. I explained the issue and we made the appoint for the next day at 4. I still had doubts since all others had bailed, however Matt called 15 minutes before the appt and confirmed he was on his way. He was prompt, proficient and discovered and fixed the issue in under an hour. Next job, big or small, he will be my only call!!"

"After loosing our home due to fire we thought that we will never be able to build it again. But the Bull Dog Construction not only rebuilt our house they did a marvelous job. Words cannot adequately express our satisfaction with our new house. From the first call we got from Mr.Schaun to the day he handed the keys to us, the workmanship was polite, friendly, and professional. We would definitely recommend Bull Dog Construction to our friends. Once again thank you all for a job well done. The Ammari Family."

Small jobs welcome

"Walter is passionate about his work, and it shows. He replaced my crumbling wooden front stoop with a beautiful little mini-deck. His outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail completely transformed the front of my house (he also installed exterior shutters on two windows). Walter was very responsive to email and texts, got the work done ahead of schedule, left the work site clean, and charged a very reasonable price. I strongly recommend Walter and his company, Wall-i Handyman Services."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

First, it is crucial to check your local guidelines or building codes. You should typically have one smoke detector for every floor, bedroom, and kitchen. Another rule of thumb is to install one smoke detector for every 500 feet in a home. Reviewing manufacturing recommendations, especially for interconnected devices, is also a good idea to ensure proper connection and monitoring.

Fire sprinkler systems give your home’s value a boost. Potential home buyers are looking for a safe place to settle, and a well-maintained sprinkler system can provide peace of mind. Plus, some homeowners insurance policies offer discounted rates for homes with this type of built-in system, thanks to the decreased risk of fire.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says you can place smoke detectors on either the ceiling or the wall, depending on the setup of your room. Since smoke rises, the ceiling makes sense, but if you go with a wall mounting, the alarm should be installed high up—no less than 12 inches from the ceiling.

Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.
