Bed cleanup was performed, but in a very quick and rough-draft fashion. We were not pleased with the end-result and needed to do quite a bit of cleanup by me after the fact. They did get a lot of it, and I wasn't expecting it to be perfection, but it was really mediocre work. The lawn aeration was done properly and achieved the desired result. I usually do fertilization and weed control myself, but I figured since they were out I would have them do it this year for us. The fertilization seemed fine, but we had more weeds than I can remember ever having before and the beds were full of weeds. This was a lot of work to maintain over the summer. Given the result, I'm not even sure weed control was put down. We originally brought them in to build a French drain, then had them quote on a patio and landscaping. Their workmanship is fantastic, and they bring a very artistic eye to the hardscaping and the plantings. Their primary landscaping planner is highly educated in plants and landscape planning. We also could not get over how much work they produced in any given day. They show up early, work late, and stay focused. They also were meticulous about cleaning up after themselves, the importance of which can not be overstated when you're talking about moving so much dirt around! We are thrilled with the quality of work, the value of the work, and the beauty of the result. Looked pretty good first year. Looked better second year, except rose bushes died and were replaced at no charge. Third year, everything was looking beautiful, except for more dead roses. I planted other items in their place. No instructions about care of any of these plants. I think birch was planted too close to house, as branches are lying on my roof and hanging over onto my porch. About 3 feet farther away would have been better as plants grew. Now have major problem with weigela, which have become my favorites; they bloom profusely with bright pink flowers and are beautiful. Problem is, one of the 3 was planted only a few inches from gas meter, and second (of 3) is about 18 inches the other way. Branches from both shrubs now cover gas meter, and I have had complaints from MG and E, and I was told the shrubs had to be removed so they could read and maintain the meter. Today, to appease the gas company, I trimmed away 80% of the closest one and probably 50% of the other one. Broke my heart. I don't even know now if they are salvageable, since they are 6 years old and most branches are missing. I also don't know where they could be replanted. I am 65 years old, and don't think I can dig them up myself, but can no longer afford to pay someone to fix it, since I am no longer working full time. No instructions were left for the care of over $2000 worth of plants, and I also cannot get to the water faucet in the front of the house, due to plant overgrowth. Yes, it was lovely the first couple of years, but a landscaped should have been able to plan more accurately, how much room the plants were going to need in the future, and made allowances for their growth. The tree in the front yard also died. At this point, I think he needs to repair the damages that he caused. It's very depressing to lose at least 3/4 of my favorite shrubs! I have called him twice, but he does not return my calls.

Collin did not provide quality customer service, did not listen to what I wanted when designing. I was very clear about not feeling as though my landscaping had "curb appeal." He did not change one thing about the layout of my existing landscaping. The only thing he did was added shrubs! I...

The mulch was the wrong color, which I attribute to poor communication. We explained what we wanted, but the product was ordered and installed without confirming with a sample or something. Additionally the much was just thrown into the beds, not smoothed out and in many cases burying and...

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Lawn irrigation is the process of getting water to your lawn, grass and all, for it to grow. There are five main types of lawn irrigation methods:
Manual irrigation puts you in charge of the flow of water. Using a sprinkler head on your hose is best to evenly distribute the water across your entire lawn. This doesn’t take much time but requires you to be physically outside holding the hose.
Above-ground sprinklers attach to your hose and rotate or oscillate around your lawn. Since these are above-ground, they’ll need to be moved when it’s time to mow, and depending on the size of your property, you might need to move it around your yard for full coverage.
In-ground sprinklers are flush with the ground when not in use but pop up above the ground level when it's time to water the lawn. Piping for these sprinklers is all found underground, and there are different types of sprinkler heads for different uses and lawn sizes.
Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.
Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.
The cost of a lawn sprinkler system is $2,550 for the average homeowner. However, this price can range from $350 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of sprinkler system you install, the size of your yard, and the type of sprinkler heads you choose. For example, rotating or oscillating sprinkler heads are more expensive than stationary ones, making the cost for one sprinkler head $2.50 to $30 each. Likewise, a yard that is 1/4 of an acre in size averages a total average price of $2,460; however, a one-acre yard averages a cost of $9,840.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
