I then read through the materials the company left for me that provided the information on their services. They must have accidentally included a page that was meant for the Weed Man employee, since it went over all the things to talk to the customer about, and then said "DO NOT UPSELL THE CUSTOMER AT THIS POINT." I realized I had been dealing with the equivalent of a used car dealership. The paperwork also specifically said their product do NOT remove quack grass as I had initially been told by the "consultant," who was obviously a sales person.
I do not trust or want to do business with this company once my Veridian contract is over. I will be watching my mailbox like a hawk to make sure they don't "forget" to cancel my service once the Veridian paid package is done.

I ended up calling them July 3rd only because I wanted to cancel the remaining applications, and that's when I found out they had applied fertilizer (I had to ask my neighbor if that was true, because I didn't believe them). During that call, I also determined that they did not spot spray for the weeds. They stated that a manager would be out to take a look and apparently deal with the issue, but again, I did not receive a call despite a note saying that weed killer had allegedly been applied. After inspecting my lawn, they only spot sprayed some of the areas that have weeds; several other areas remain vibrantly weedy.
On July 13th, I received a call from their customer service department asking if I was satisfied with the services, and I said no. After explaining my disappointment, she scheduled a follow up visit for early next week. Sadly, I doubt I'll get a call-ahead despite requesting it yet again. It's likely I'll cancel the remaining services unless they take care of the weeds.

In March 2013, I decided to hire a competing service to fertilize and control weeds on my lawn for 2013. I was then surprised (and angered) to find out a month later that Weed Man had automatically signed me up for another year without my knowledge or permission! I had previously called them early in the year to renew the service at reduce, prepayment rate. They took this as a blank check to continue future business, but I had not consented to an automatic, perpetual renewal at any time.
After learning that Weed Man has scheduled the first application this year, I phoned Weed Man to cancel. I was taken aback by their representative's rudeness. He continually challenged my decision to cancel with high pressure sales tactics and refused to even let me speak! I had to interrupt him several times and was ready to hang up on him! He finally relented and agreed to cancel, but only after I was completely put off. I will never do business with these people again!
