"I have had some experience already with Art Young construction from a friend & knew I could trust him & he would do a great job. They are trustworthy, timely, work fast with quality results & professional. My shed looks new & the deck privacy fence looks amazing & exactly what I wanted. "They were all very nice and very accommodating, but the doors they had ordered initially had hinges on the wrong side. I wanted all the doors to open the same way that they had been orientated originally. They did take care of anything. They tried to make sure that I was happy, and in the end I was.

Vinyl can withstand many different cleaning methods, but there are two things you need to be wary of. First, particularly harsh chemicals will damage your vinyl siding and reduce its lifespan. Second, be careful about pressure washing your vinyl siding. Vinyl can resist powerful washing damage more than softer siding like wood, but high levels of pressure can still crack it. Use the lowest level of pressure for power washing vinyl, or hire a siding professional to do it.

Hardie board is more expensive than vinyl siding. Vinyl siding costs $3 to $12 per square foot, on average, with cost skewing toward the lower end of that range. Hardie board siding costs $7 to $18 per square foot, depending on the style, color, and trim. However, it lasts twice as long and often looks nicer, meaning you’ll see a higher bump in your home value and greater curb appeal from Hardie board.

You can put new siding over clapboards, but it’s not recommended. Some sidings, like vinyl siding, can go over clapboards with sheathing like a foam layer in between. However, it’s best to remove clapboard siding if you plan on replacing it with new siding. Burying wood clapboards underneath new siding can create risks of rot and mold, or hidden insect damage. It can also create warping issues over time. Removing clapboards allows you to properly install a new sheathing, as well as clean up the exterior wall and look for any signs of damage.

To clean painted aluminum siding, use a mixture of mild detergent and water applied with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose to remove soap residue. For stubborn stains, cleaning aluminum siding with a power washer on a low-pressure setting can be effective. But avoid using high pressure, which could damage the paint.
