Chet's was very responsive on meeting us at the house and providing us with a comprehensive bid, which was needed for the realty negotiation. We closed on 12/3/2012 and Chet's had a full crew at the new house all day on 12/4/12 and 12/5/12. They were very professional, laying down drop cloths wherever they walked, cleaning up any additonal debris and asking questions as worked progressed. The removal of the old furnace also required removal of a wood stove that was still working alongside the furnace system (which could not be "hooked up" to the new system due to ventilation issues). The workers did an excellent job removing it and cleaning up. The laundry relocation job was also somewhat challenging and took a day to complete. The house is a quad-level, further complicating the job. The original laundry was also set up for an electric dryer while the new one was to be set up for a gas dryer. All the plumbing and venting was installed where we wanted it to fit our design. We were very happy with all the work that was performed. The addition of the "slop sink" came after being in the house about a month. Again, Chet's was very responsive to our call, had a worker out to the sight the next day to complete the job. Scott Bear had been the contractor for the roof work in 2004, although he now specializes in sunrooms. I called his number and left a message about the inspection findings. He returned my call promptly and said \"We'll take care of it.\" That evening, he sent a worker by to look at the chimney, and the next day a work crew of two returned to repair the flashing. In addition, they noticed some caulking that needed to be done on another roof vent, which the house inspection had not mentioned. They took care of this as well. The work was completed at no charge to me. It was a pleasure to find someone is still in business almost eight years later, and a double pleasure to see how well they stand by their work. Keep in mind that gas leaks are very serious issues, so don’t hesitate to contact a plumber or gas line specialist immediately.

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
