Customers say: Quality work

"Jim & his team did a great job fixing the electrical system in my new house. The house had an ancient relay system from the 50s. Excel did all of the work on time & in budget. Because the system was so old there were random issues that popped up later. Jim & his team came back right away every time I called. I highly recommend Excel Electric."

"This is a truly great company. They provide great customer service and spend time explaining the details and answering questions. My husband obsessed about every single detail and could not deny that it was a no brainer. Our first electric bill since installing the panels was a CREDIT! I was not expecting that. If you have ever considered solar, seriously, just do it. Long term, you can not go wrong."

"It was a difficult project, but I already knew that. Ledvina Electric arrived 5 minutes early, introduced the crew and started the job as soon as the tools were unloaded from the truck. Brian explained the steps and challenges he was finding during the job. Brian identified an enhancement to the project that eliminated a lot of old existing equipment that really cleaned up the old closet. I was not home for the power on, but according to my wife, everything was successful, also finding an existing issue that was corrected. A day and a half estimate turned into a one day job. Thanks Brian and Issac for the great job, professional attitude and timeliness of the project. Expect many referrals!

"Jim was a very good communicator and was able to give a general estimate over the phone based upon an inspection report we provided to him. They were able to come within our timeframe of a week, and did excellent work. Whenever my husband or I contacted Jim about anything, he always got back to us in a very short time. One of the best experiences I have had with any contractor. We would definitely hire again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

No, because amps and volts measure very different things. However, you can use basic equations to find amps or volts by using data about one of the measurements to calculate the other.

On average, the cost to wire a new home ranges from $2 to $5 per square foot. The cost to rewire a house is around the same, ranging from $2 to $4 per square foot. Often, though, new wiring comes with lower overall costs since it’s much easier to access a home’s foundation.

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

Usually, your house panel is one of the key components that must be replaced when upgrading your amp service. In many cases, you will also need to upgrade your meter base as well as other electrical components.

The safest way to pull an electrical cord from the wall outlet is by gently but firmly grabbing the plug and pulling it out. Pulling on the cord instead of the plug can cause damage to the cord, leading to an increased risk of electrical problems like fire or electric shock. If you notice damaged wiring on an appliance or device, it’s best to stop using it immediately.
