"Very friendly and communicative. Upgraded our electric panel and also happened to notice our doorbell wasn't working and helped with that too! Registered contractor with Focus on Energy so costs for panel upgrade are reduced based on income. Absolutely will call again when future needs arise."

When all approvals were in, they came and installed the electric and then the panels. It was turned on within a couple days. "Wonderful, he came within a day to quote me and are the next day to put in the the outlet above the table and a switch with a dimmer on the wall to control it. During the quote he said that it would take an hour and a half with two people and be about $250. It took about two hours with two people and charged me $198 - he left the dining room as clean as when he came! I would definitely use him again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

On average, the cost to wire a new home ranges from $2 to $5 per square foot. The cost to rewire a house is around the same, ranging from $2 to $4 per square foot. Often, though, new wiring comes with lower overall costs since it’s much easier to access a home’s foundation.

Pendant lights are very versatile, and you can almost always find one with your preferred style that accepts your preferred bulb. Today, many fixtures use LED bulbs, though it’s still completely possible to find one that uses halogen, fluorescent, or even old-school incandescent bulbs. The manual that comes with your light should tell what types of bulbs you can use with it.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

Yes, it’s safe to strip a wire if you follow the proper safety precautions. First and foremost, you must always disconnect the power and never try stripping a live wire. Using wire strippers is another safety precaution, but don’t forget to keep your fingers away from the blade. It’s also critical you only remove the insulation and not accidentally cut into the conductor, which is unlikely as long as you’re using the right-sized wire stripper.
