"Rex removed 2 tree stumps from our yard. He was easy to work with, professional, and was able to safely access and remove a stump that was located near the house. He was able to do this all without leaving ruts in the yard from heavy machinery or vehicles. We would absolutely hire him again."

"Hamm's Arbor Care is knowledgeable and experienced in identifying, treating and preventing problems that cause trees/shrubs to die. We have used this company for several years and they have saved two large old Oak trees from dying of Oak wilt. They have also treated our white Birch tree that has allowed it to survive past the normal lifespan of this species. When trimming workers remove cut branches and upon completion/departure they leave our yard clean of any debris and in good condition."

"Moved to Beaver Dam during summer of 2020 and hired Fiddlers to do snow removal. I have been very impressed with their great service. They are here quickly after a snowfall and my corner sidewalks and driveway are cleared perfectly. They also do my front porch, steps, and walkway. I can definitely recommend them."

"Spent this morning with Bruce and Brian from B&H Tree Service from Portage. They did an AMAZING job removing a tall, dead oak tree that was crowding a lovely white pine and threatening the water pump and propane tank area. Had the best equipment to lift and place that huge thing on the ground. Then proceeded to cut all the wood to "splitter size" for us, then cleared the branches and leaves from that tree and another huge branch that came down in another area. SO Satisfied with their work. Highly recommended!"

"They carefully removed a tree limb that had fallen onto our neighbor's shed, which--thanks to Mother Nature and Canopy's diligence--did no damage to the shed. They then removed the dead tree and ground out the stump. They cut down quite a bit of the dead tree into firewood for us. They also consulted on what to replace the dead tree with so we didn't lose shade or green, and advised us on an elm tree. Clean up was thorough despite the size of the job. I highly recommend Canopy.

"The owner of this company, Terry was a pleasure to work with. He quickly gave me an estimate for the work and we scheduled it that day. He and his assistant worked nonstop to trim the brush and cut the trees on the day of the job so the work was completed in one day. I would recommend calling him for tree service at Just A Memory Removal Services, LLC, 920-348-3562."

"We had a 50 ft ash tree ready to come down at any moment and Kirmse was the first to get back to us, came out to look at it 30 mins later, and was back the next day, to our relief. Their team put the tree right where we asked them to and worked quickly and safely pretty close to a power line. On top of all that, the price was reasonable. They'll be the first they call to clear a few other problem trees from our lot."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, you do not have the right to take fruit from a neighbor's tree, even if the branches overhang your property. The fruit is considered the property of the tree's owner. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.

If you’re taking down a tree that you don’t suspect is affected by disease or pests and it’s nowhere near your home or other structures, then calling in a tree company should work fine. However, anything more involved means an arborist is a better option. These pros have years of experience with tree removal and can safely take down trees located next to structures, and they have the tools, sanitization equipment, and experience to remove sick or dying trees without infecting nearby trees.
