"we had a burning smell from our vents. i posted on Facebook and was reached out to by the owner and when i told him i was looking for someone to come ASAP he moved things around in his schedule to get a tech here within an hour of opening. Patrick came and identified the issue within 10 minutes. He had to go get the panel and was completely finished with his work in under an hour. He was friendly, attentive and quick to work. i highly recommend!"

"Harker Heating And Cooling is the best HVAC contractor we have ever worked with in 40 years. Their web site proudly says they are an “honest company with Midwestern values.” That is absolutely true. Their representative provided in-depth advice, answered our questions. and returned our messages. Their techs were knowledgeable, professional, careful, and friendly. They were on time, on call, and on budget. The service they provided for us over the years could not be better. So when the time finally came to replace our old furnace and A/C we selected them. Unfortunately, they encountered many unexpected problems installing our new equipment. Many more than they had anticipated for the job. But their representative pledged to address every one of them no matter how hard it was for them or how much of their time it took. And that is exactly what they did. No quibbling and no questions. They got the job done right. If you want an honest family contractor who stands behind what they do, and lives by those Midwestern values, then this is the company to hire. You will be glad you did. "Cain and his crew came and did a great job mounting my TV above my fireplace and installing an electrical outlet. They were fast and easy to work with. They answered all my questions and made sure everything was working before they left. I would definitely recommend!"

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

No, poison isn’t the best way to deal with animals in your attic. It’s unlikely to completely eradicate the problem, especially if you don’t take care of access points. Also, poisoned animals may die and decay in the attic, causing noxious odors.

Some animals may leave the attic before the poison kills them, which could lead to nearby pets or other wildlife eating the animals and becoming poisoned themselves. Ultimately, it’s better to avoid using poison and contact a professional instead.

Roaches entering your home or infesting an area are usually the result of poor sanitation. Cockroaches feed off of crumbs, spills, food scraps, and other organic matter, so they’re more likely to stick around and come back for more if your space isn’t cleaned up regularly. Maintain your home and prevent roaches by cleaning the kitchen area daily, sealing food tightly, removing open water sources, and eliminating clutter.

Through monitoring, preventative treatments, and advising on moisture control.

They can have a deterrent effect on birds to some extent. The reflective surfaces of these objects, such as aluminum foil strips, CDs, or reflective tape, create flashes of light and movement that can startle or confuse birds temporarily. However, some birds can become accustomed to these visual disturbances over time and might adapt their behavior accordingly. For a more sustained solution, combining shiny objects with other deterrent methods shared here is often beneficial for creating a more comprehensive and effective strategy for bird control.

You can find a variety of humane bird repellent sprays online and at home improvement stores. However, if you want to try a DIY method that will keep birds away without harming them, mix some water, dish soap, and a few drops of peppermint oil and spray the area you want bird-free. Peppermint oil is a notoriously lovely smell for humans, but birds tend to avoid it.
