"These guys were GREAT !!! They explained everything they were doing, what caused the issue, and the extra things they did to make sure the issue would not happen again. They were efficient, cordial, and most important, normal and spoke in common terms when explaining things. They are my go- to guys for any electrical issues moving forward and I will highly recommend them to others. Lastly, the price was very fair for the work they performed. It was an all around great experience !!! Dave Erickson"

"ICT was fast and efficient showing up on time and doing the job right. John was fantastic at diagnosing and repairing the electrical issues we had. Great job explaining what needed to be fixed and how he would do that. ICT will be my go-to electric moving forward. Highly recommend!"

"You can stop searching for an electrician - hire Brey Electric. You couldn?t ask for a more professional contractor. He installed a GFCI outlet in the bathroom and had to go through a very tight attic space. He recommended the attic route because it would be less expensive than running a wire up from the basement. He explained clearly what the job would entail, finished the job ahead of schedule, vacuumed the floor when the job was completed, and went a step further to offer to provide a custom extension cord if the toilet seat cord isn?t long enough. Conner takes customer service seriously and works with the electrical contractors association to stay current with industry practices. He?s relaxed and very easy to work with. I won?t hesitate to refer Brey Electric to my friends and call on Connor for future jobs."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

How many string lights can be on one outlet depends on a number of varying factors, including the total wattage of your circuit, the type of lights, the energy needs of the lights, and cord specifications. It’s better to play it safe here to protect your circuit, so figure out the max wattage of your circuit, compare that to the lights, and move on from there. Generally speaking, LED string lights require less energy than incandescent bulbs, translating to a higher number of lights per circuit.

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

To avoid drilling into wire, you will need to trace your home's wiring using a stud finder, wire detector, circuit tracer, or voltage finder. Since locating wires in your home can be difficult for some homeowners, hire a professional electrician with the experience and knowledge needed to safely handle electrical systems before drilling into any walls in your home.

Well pumps need power to run, so they can’t function without electricity. If your power shuts off, there can sometimes be enough pressure in the water tank to allow for a lucky flush or a bit of tap water—but this won’t last long. It’s a good idea to have a backup generator or an alternative power source like solar if you’re worried about losing power.

You can use both LED and incandescent bulbs in an incandescent fixture as long as the bulb base is the right size. Never use a higher wattage than what the fixture recommends. However, it’s usually safe when transitioning to LED bulbs because they typically have a lower wattage than their incandescent counterparts.
