There are sections of my driveway where nearly all of the seal coating came off in less than 9 months, so I am going to have to re-do the job myself. This is not what I had in mind when I paid over $1,100 (a fair price, if it would have lasted longer). I understand that the work isn't covered anymore, as I didn't report it until the thaw revealed so much was missing, and I'm not upset with Merit or their staff. Yes, all basement floors crack in response to the natural settlement of the soil around them and from concrete shrinkage as it cures, and you’ll see hairline cracks as a result. However, you should keep an eye on your basement floor to see if cracks continue to lengthen or widen or show signs of water intrusion. You may want to hire a concrete floor contractor to check out your home’s concrete surfaces or inspect your home’s foundation for minor damages that they can fix while on site. They may be able to fix cracks in your driveway or garage floor the same day they fix your concrete steps, as well. General concrete repair experts usually won’t be able to handle larger jobs, like leveling a sunken foundation, so you’ll need to hire a structural engineer for bigger projects.

It’s usually not an immediate safety risk to live in a house with foundation problems, but you don’t want to let those problems persist. Most foundation issues don’t lead to a house’s sudden collapse, but they can lead to health issues like mold growth and pest intrusion, as well as problems like uneven floors or rotten beams and joists, which can pose injury risks and be costly to fix.

Foundation problems will likely get worse over time if they aren’t repaired. As foundation problems progress, your home may experience signs of structural damage, water damage, and health and safety risks—all of which will only get more expensive to fix the longer you wait.
