"We purchased a home and contacted Elite Exteriors for a consultation on the condition of our existing siding. Instead of just discussing my concerns over the phone, they willingly sent Ryan out to look over the house. He was very knowledgeable and provided clear guidance in managing deterioration and making mends while we begin to budget and save up for replacement with a superior siding product. I really appreciated their customer service. Thank you Elite Exteriors."

"We had an outstanding experience with Advanced. They did an excellent job on our home?s metal roof and siding. The crew was professional, efficient, and paid close attention to detail throughout the entire project. The workmanship and cleanup were top-notch, and everything turned out great. "We recently had our home exterior completely updated with all new soffit, fascia, gutters and siding, we went with window concepts after quoting with many different contractors. They provided the best value/cost ratio and above average customer service. Our sales guy made a few mistakes on the quote initially, but we are all human and he made it right before we signed the contract. The owner, Rick, was very attentive and sent out an entire crew to do our house after realizing how big of a job it was. The crew he sent out did good work and finished the entire house in 5 days. Overall, we have satisfied with the work completed. I would recommend WC of Milwaukee to others looking to side their homes."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Insulated vinyl siding is very durable and can last for 20 to 40 years. The extra support that the insulation provides helps to make the vinyl siding less susceptible to damages from weather and other minor wear and tear. Vinyl siding on its own may  be less durable than other types of siding like fiber cement, but when coupled with insulation it is stronger than usual.

For homeowners looking for a less expensive alternative to metal siding, the most popular choice is vinyl siding. At just $3 to $12 per square foot, vinyl siding can cost much less than some types of metal siding. Other popular alternatives include fiber cement and engineered wood. Consult a local siding contractor to determine which type of siding will work best for your home.

Siding colors that go well with a green roof include off-red, beige, white, gray, brown, and even another green. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your green roof. This roof color has character, and playing with your color palette can really add to the natural charm of the house.

Vinyl can withstand many different cleaning methods, but there are two things you need to be wary of. First, particularly harsh chemicals will damage your vinyl siding and reduce its lifespan. Second, be careful about pressure washing your vinyl siding. Vinyl can resist powerful washing damage more than softer siding like wood, but high levels of pressure can still crack it. Use the lowest level of pressure for power washing vinyl, or hire a siding professional to do it.

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.

Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.

If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.
