"Two visits and that's not our fault: Brian came, diagnosed the problem (capacitor if not blower died, and tune up). He was right: a new capacitor made it work well, until the old blower just refused to obey. Two days later we called and said that Brian was right: the blower needed replacement. Doing just the capacitor was our call to try to save money. Now our 20+ year old furnace runs like new. And I'll be calling them to replace our HVAC ('cuz it's 20+ years old) when it decides to give up the ghost."

"Matthew from Kettle Moraine Heating & Cooling does a very thorough job maintaining our air conditioner. We especially appreciate how we are assigned the same technician for the furnace & AC each year. It says a lot about a company when the service people are long term employees. Thank you!"

"Bob and his team were very professional. They arrived at my residence on time and spent more time than expected due to a need to replace the existing PVC venting pipe to a larger diameter. Overall I am very happy with the service performed by Bob's team. I definitely recommend his team to whoever needs heating and cooling service."

"One Hour Heating & Conditioning was prompt arriving at the scheduled appointment time. My wife and I also appreciated receiving a message that the techs were on their way. Our techs Kyle and Jacob were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Arguably one of the most thorough annual checkups I have had since being in the home for 7 years and using some other services in the past. While both furnaces are well beyond their expected life, neither tried to "oversell" me and offered objective pros/cons to some repair options vs. replacement. I would highly recommend One Hour Heating & Conditioning."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Look up your model number online to find additional information. Usually, you can just take a look at the old filter and find the brand name and dimensions to order a new one. When replacing the filter, always check that it’s pointed the right way to match the direction of your airflow. Many filters have arrows on them to help with this step.

Yes. Return air vents are responsible for gathering and pulling in the warmer air. Once they draw it in, your system conditions the air by removing the warmer molecules from it, allowing your air conditioner to dispense the cooler air back into your home. Not only does this create a more comfortable environment for you, but it also keeps your air conditioner from overworking, resulting in lower energy bills.

No. Your furnace does not run your air conditioner. Both units use the same system of ductwork to move conditioned air throughout your home, but you can have a furnace without having an air conditioner and vice versa. Furnaces are only for heating your home. You can buy a system that does both, however, like a split system or a heat pump (yes, heat pumps cool, too).

If left untreated, a frozen AC unit can lead to costly damage, especially to the compressor and evaporator coils. When ice forms on the evaporator coils, they become brittle and more susceptible to breaking. Plus, a freeze makes your AC system much less efficient, which means it's wasting energy and costing you more in your monthly energy bills.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.
