"Highly Recommend T&K Builders We could not be more impressed with our experience with T&K Builders. From the beginning, Terry and his team were attentive, punctual, respectful, and professional. Terry personally walked us through the entire process from start to finish, including the design and material selections for our two-story, approximately 8,000-square-foot barndominium. Because we have a farm, we had some very specific needs. Automotive and RV parking were extremely important to us, along with a large, functional mudroom because we are constantly dealing with mud and farm traffic. Terry listened to what we wanted and helped design the space around how our family would actually use it. He and his team also continually worked with us to manage costs and offered different options when there were opportunities to save money without sacrificing the overall quality of the project. "The service went well, they were good. The first time we used him, he came out thorough and nice. He turned around the samples pretty quickly for us. We used them again later, and the second time was fine, and it took a little long for us to get the results, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was fine. There wasn't anything bad, but there wasn't anything memorable either."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

Land survey reports have a boatload of information relevant to several scenarios. Here are the types of information contained with a survey, though it depends on your chosen type of land survey. Exact boundaries and dimensions of a given property General topography, including both natural and artificial landmarks Location of utility fixtures, like water mains Confirmation of any easements or encroachments on a piece of property Assessment of land elevation to buy flood insurance Updated information to add to a pre-existing property map
