I contacted the company after waiting 4 months to have my work done, I wanted to cancel the contract and have them reimburse me. I called multiple times with no response. I finally sent a later after 5 months informing them again, I do not want to do business with them. I finally received AN EMAIL response that they wouldn't cancel. Customer service is terrible and at this point, I am still waiting to be reimbursed from them. Highly recommend doing business elsewhere."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

In general, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PEX (polyethylene), and copper are the three piping materials used in new constructions when adding water supply lines. There are some caveats. PEX and copper are considered ideal when running lines that will handle hot water because they are not at risk for melting and warping the way that PVC piping can. At $0.40 to $4 per linear foot, PEX is considered more affordable than copper pipes, which cost $2 to $12 per linear foot. PVC is considered appropriate in water lines for cold taps only.

The clearest sign that something is wrong with your galvanized piping is if you can see rust or corrosion on the exterior. These indicate that the same problems are present on the inside of the pipes. You should contact a licensed plumber right away so that they can inspect your pipes. Other signs include poor performance of your gas appliances, high gas bills, and if your pipes are past the lifespan of 20 to 50 years.

Most homeowners insurance policies do cover the cost of burst pipes and related water damage. The same is true for many types of renters insurance. But every insurance policy differs, so it’s wise to check your policy to know exactly how much you may have to pay out of pocket (if anything) for a burst pipe and water damage in your home.

Dripping or leaking water from the handle or dripping from the showerhead (when its off) are signs your shower valve needs to be replaced. Other signs include low water pressure and inconsistent water pressure and temperature (that isn’t caused by other factors like someone else using another fixture at the same time). Difficulty turning the valve and water not turning on at all are advanced signs that the valve is wearing out.

There’s no way around it—a burst pipe is often a homeowner’s worst nightmare, and the situation can range from semi-serious to dire. If you don’t catch the leak, it can lead to thousands of dollars worth of water damage.

At best, you’ll notice a burst pipe quickly, turn off your water supply, and use a wet vacuum to clean up minor flooding. A plumber can repair the pipe, and you won’t be left with a major bill. At worst, severe water damage can collapse floors, ceilings, walls, and foundations, sometimes leading to major repairs and renovations.
