"The team at Current Electric was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Work was performed well. Communication and punctuality were top notch. My only minor complaint is they are on the pricier side of electrical contractors. But with most work you get what you pay for."

"Mike does great work for a reasonable price. He’s a great communicator, he’s timely, and he does exceptional work with quick turnaround. Mike installed six new lights in our dining room, having to cut and feed new electrical as it was not preexisting. He also installed new dimmer switches. The room is SO much lighter and brighter now. Additionally, he put in replacement lighting in our kitchen and hallway. He put down tarp to help avoid mess and swept and vacuumed up all the dust and particles after he was done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!"

"Matthew did a fantastic job installing our new quad-receptacle GFCI outlet in our basement. We will absolutely hire him again in the future!! He was polite, punctual, communicated well with us, and his pricing was very reasonable. He cleaned up after his work, which we appreciated. He's definitely a professional electrician that I would refer to my family and friends."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A two-way switch is also called a single-pole or single-throw switch. These switches only have an on-and-off function and only control a single light or series of lights wired together. A three-way switch has no “on” or "off” position and works with a second switch in the circuit to control a single light or light series from two locations.

Three-way switches work in pairs, allowing an operator to control a single light or series of lights from two separate switch locations. Most often, a three-way switch controls a light or light series in a single room.

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. The purpose of pigtail wiring is to connect multiple wires to a single terminal on a device. Pigtailing involves splicing a short length of wire, called a pigtail, into the multiple wires that need to be connected. The pigtail wire is then connected to the single terminal on the device, allowing all of the wires to be connected at once. This practice helps to simplify the wiring process, reduce clutter, and ensure a secure and reliable electrical connection.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.
