I had a vision of what I wanted and although I had pictures to help, he did a great job completing everything I asked and it was perfect. 3. The job was completed on time and was very reasonably priced. 4. When I wasn’t sure of the best product to use but knew what I wanted it to look like, he would offer options from lower priced, mid-range, and higher-end. Gave me pros and cons and left it up to me to choose, and I appreciated the options. The job was a remodel of the living room, dining room, and entryway. He replaced four windows and the front door. You can apply plaster over plaster, but before you do, check the stability of the existing plaster. If it’s been there for a while, it may require a base coat of PVA emulsion. This will make the existing plaster less porous and ensure the new and old plaster adhere properly.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

Pool plaster lasts about 10 years on average for a pool with regular use. Over time, the plaster will degrade and may chip, peel, or crack. Once your pool plaster starts showing signs of age, plan to have it replastered once the weather is right to prevent further damage.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.
