"I had Mike install a couple of new outlets in my bedroom, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. He had to run new wiring and cut into the drywall in a few spots, but he made such clean cuts and patched everything back so neatly that all I had to do afterward was a little spackling and paint. Everything was done efficiently, looked great, and the price was very reasonable. I’d absolutely hire him again!"

"Joseph was very helpful and professional from the initial phone conversation. Starting with diagnosing the problem, arriving on time prepared and equipped with a new transformer and installing it and testing it out to see if there were any other issues with the Ring doorbell. I would definitely recommend Smart Electric to anyone looking for low voltage residential solutions and would also reach out to SE for future low voltage electrical issues."

"We wanted to install an electric car charger at our house. Unfortunately that required a service upgrade because our breaker panel couldn't handle the load of adding a car charger. We hired Switch Electric to replace the mast, install a new outside panel (to upgrade our 100A house connection to 200A), as well as a new inside panel to support 200A. Finally we had them install the car charger. It took them less than two days to do the installation. The installation quality was amazing and I'm extremely pleased we chose them. The full service upgrade, including car charger installation cost a little over $7000 which was thousands less than other bids we received. I am very pleased we hired them and I will definitely hire them again in the future."

"Nick installed an EV charger for us. Nick did quality work and was very friendly. Even after the installation was complete, he stuck around to ensure everything was working as expected. It initially wasn t, but that turned out to be related to an issue with how the mobile app on my phone was set up, and not related to any work he did. He stuck around while on the phone with tech support and had to cancel a couple of appointments later that evening to ensure my project was complete, and remained patient throughout. Great customer service! I would absolutely recommend this company, and Nick in particular."

Small jobs welcome

"Nathan installed several outlets in our garage , a new security light behind the garage, and corrected the wiring to our court lights. He did a great job with all the work, routing the wiring very neatly, installed the outlets where I wanted them and advised me on the best way to get what I needed. He was very open to all my questions as well as my grandson’s questions about why Nathan did things a certain way. Nathan was very patient and made sure we both understood the reasons and methods for his work. Excellent work ethic. Highly recommend Nathan for any electrical work you and your friends/family might have."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Jack installed a new security door on our front door, and replaced our back door with a custom steel door. He and his crew carefully covered the area to prevent any debris and dust from entering the rest of the house and thoughtfully protected all my plants. They were able to take in stride any unexpected work due to the door being a custom size. They poured some additional concrete to level out the threshold. In addition, they pointed out that Home Depot did not provide all the parts with one of the doors, so we can hopefully get some of the price refunded.
Overall, they did a great job. They provided quality professional work on time. Reliable, honest, and efficient. Highly recommended.

FAQs for doorbell installation projects in Startup, WA

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.

It’s important to ask an electrician a few questions before you commit to hiring them so you can make an informed decision as a consumer. If you’re getting estimates or considering hiring an electrician, ask them these questions:

  • Are you a full-time electrician?

  • Are you bonded, licensed, and insured?

  • What level of experience do you have as an electrician?

  • Can you please share three references?

  • Do you do residential or commercial electrical work?

  • What kinds of electrical work are you most familiar with?

  • Will any subcontractors be performing the work?

  • Are permits and inspections required?

  • Who is responsible for obtaining permits and inspections?

  • What is your schedule?

  • Do you offer a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Will you sign a do-not-exceed clause to keep the job within the budget?

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
