"Our tenant reported a leak in her kitchen ceiling. I called Home Advisor looking for a roof repair specialist and Ferdi Construction was one of the responding companies. I made an appointment to meet with Junio Dias to assess the problem. Junio was punctual and professional. He assessed the leak problem and was honest in his quotation. He was not the lowest bid, but his honesty and knowledge impressed me. His work was thorough and backed by a guarantee. Later that year we called him again to replace the skylight, and then again to assess the condition of the roof of our primary residence. I expect a full re-roof is needed soon and we will call Ferdi Construction to do the work. We highly recommend Ferdi Construction!!"

He is also working with us on a kitchen countertop replacement and has been very helpful - sending a schematic to the countertop company and helping coordinate the effort. We'll use him to tear out the old countertops and install the new sink."

"Absolute Rot Repair did an amazing job on our garage rehabilitation and deck install! We recently purchased a home, knowing from the inspection that there was significant water damage in the attached garage & the deck atop of it. Arthur and his team did an amazing job on the repair & rebuild of the garage as well as the deck installation project. They were extremely professional, kept us well informed of their findings & plan of action and consulted us on any design details to ensure we were all on the same page. The extremely high level of quality done by the team is a tribute to their expertise & dedication to their clients. And everyone on the team was extremely personable & genuine to interact with on a daily basis. Tipping a handyman is not a requirement or necessarily expected, as they should build a fair wage into the price of the job. A tip is not necessary. If you feel that a handyman did a great job for you, the best thing you can do for them is boost their reputation by leaving reviews on as many sites as possible and spreading by word of mouth how good they are. A tip is temporary but a reputation creates a business!

Tipping is not a requirement, or even an expectation, but is appreciated by the technician when performing exceptional work. A good tip may be around 10% of the project cost. Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.

Being certified and/or licensed typically provides the customer with a level of comfort when hiring a handyman, but is not always a guarantee of quality work. Ask the handyman to explain what his or her process to complete your project is, and if you hire this person, check on the work, ask questions, make suggestions. After all, it's your project, your money, and you deserve quality work.

Be aware that not every state requires or even provides a license for a handyman. Many handymen will not or cannot be licensed. If you want a general contractor, hire one (they will be licensed and bonded/insured). Understand what you usually get when you hire a handyman and it is NOT a general contractor.
