"Wow. I have used Classic for 8 years, both for insulation and pest control. They were great to work with and did a consistently good job for a reasonable fee. As a text from them today requested, I called to reschedule a service call. The person who answered identified himself as the owner, and indicated he was “back” because he didn’t like the way the company was being run. Because I wanted my service to include a crawlspace inspection of the rodent traps that they put in - something that is part of the service they have always done — and that I pay for — said I was being too rigid and he didn’t want me as a customer. Again, wow."

"The whole process was not pleasant. We went with Arrow because of the good reviews, but the insulation process was anything but easy. We have an older home that had nailed in dry wall. We decided to have the installation done through the home exterior in order to minimize clean up (we had a 3 month old at the time that we didnt want exposed to the dust/insulation particles). When the insulation was being blown in, many of our dry wall nails began to pop through the dry wall. We were never made aware of any of the potential problems with blowing in insulation through the home exterior, and this process created far more work than we were expecting. As for the exterior of our home, we were left with many siding boards damaged (which thankfully Arrow decided to pay for). Some of our siding could not get removed, and holes were instead cut into our siding. When these were initially patched, they looked awesome, but after only 1.5-2 months, the patch work began to show cracks, and now every hole that was created is visible from the street (some of the plugs have even been able to be moved around with very little pressure). This process has been a nightmare, and our home exterior, after almost 3 months, still is not what it was before the work was done."

However, if the decoy remains motionless in the same spot for a long enough time, the birds will eventually wise up and realize it's a fake. Keep changing the location of the predator decoy to ensure that the birds keep their guard up and maintain their distance.

Fake owls are a common goose deterrent decoy and one of the most humane ways to scare away geese. Unfortunately, some geese are wise to fake predators. Once the animals and their young are out of the house, remove the nest and locate any entry points. Some may be difficult to find because some animals can fit through very small holes. Once you’ve located as many entry points as possible, use materials such as metal or masonry to block off the entry. Ideally, you should choose materials that most animals cannot chew through. Create a one-way door or flap to allow animals to leave but not return. Additional methods include using repellants designed to make an area unappealing to the types of animals that find your home so inviting. 

Look for goose repellents that contain the ingredient methyl anthranilate. This is a natural chemical found in grape juice. In human food, it’s often used as grape flavoring. With geese, it’s highly irritating. Grape Kool-Aid contains methyl anthranilate, the active ingredient in most bird repellents. It won’t harm geese, but it will deter them.

Remember, bats are federally protected, and it's illegal to use chemicals during the removal process, and mothballs tend to fall into this category.
