"PDK Construction was very professional from start to finish on my project. They communicated promptly and clearly and followed through on all of their commitments. I will hire again when I need home service the next time."
"The work did not start on time and once it did took an extended period of time, with 4 workers. Another home in the neighborhood had the same thing done and they had 1 person working on the tear off and roofing and he finished before my roof was completed and they started at the same time. The roof itself was finished last summer in July and they have yet to put the fascia and soffet on the West side of my home. They also have not passed the inspection for the flashing around the chimney which they say is my responsibility but every chimney company I spoke to said that is the roofer's responsibility. I made the mistake of paying them for all of this with their verbal promise to complete everything within two weeks and that never happened."
"John and his team were fast to respond when we discovered damage to our roof after coming back from a 3 week vacation, driving out to inspect at no cost to my wife and I. The overall cost was very affordable and the team knocked it out of the park faster than we were expecting and right in time for a big snow storm to arrive! Highly recommend John and his team to anyone needing roofing repairs, recommendations, or other exterior work. Very professional, very friendly, and fast response!"
"They were very thorough with explaining all the options and benefits between the different options for siding. Melia and Eric were very helpful and knowledgeable."

"AREX Construction LLC has done siding on my house fast with high quality, great communication, wonderful customer service and sweet price. I highly recommend this company."
"Terrific. I have many friends who have used Mike's services and raved about what a great job he and his crew do. They were right. It was a big job (at least in my eyes), and it looks beautiful. They did siding, trim, soffits, gutters, and will be doing two windows. They worked hard in this very hot recent heatwave. They stayed upbeat, and got the work done. I was very impressed."
"Rightway Construction is the best contractor we have ever hired. We got ten bids for our project from small business to large companies. Kevin and Amy (husband and wife team) were the only company that did not make me feel bad for the current condition of my home or use scare tactics into getting their business. Kevin and Amy worked as a team explaining what they would do and who would be doing it (themselves). They were the most affordable oddly enough and the kindest. I do want to point out that I have two kids with special needs and they were very careful and kind with them. Even my plants were not destroyed and I was planning on that one. They were early and on time every day they were here. The work was done VERY fast. They cleaned up after themselves constantly so the work site was always clean and not trashy. They installed hardie plank siding. It looks amazing!!! They went above and beyond. We even had a slight bee problem and they were even prepared for that. My home feels brand new. My neighbors have all been by and loved all the work and were super impressed. One neighbor is even going to hire them to work on her house. I can't say enough good things about them. They are honest and reliable. Lastly I even got a hand written card in the mail thanking me for the job. To me that meant a lot. Would I hire them again? YES! "
Generally speaking, the thicker the siding, the higher the quality. Thicker siding provides a stronger resistance against extreme weather conditions. Thicker siding also tends to fade more slowly under the sun. Hardie boards, a popular fiber cement siding option, is usually 5/16 inches thick. Meanwhile, masonry-finished cement siding varies from 5/8 to 5/8 inches thick.
Costs vary based on home size, siding quality, labor, and any necessary repairs to underlying structures. High-grade materials and insulation options tend to influence the overall expense.
The clapboard exposure, also called the reveal, refers to the amount of clapboard visible in the siding. Clapboards always overlap slightly, but some overlap more than others. The exposure is the vertical measurement of the board that remains visible as the clapboard is installed.
When repairing clapboard siding, it’s important that you match the exposure of your current clapboards. You may want to take a measurement of the specific exposure on your siding for reference in repairs.
Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs$4 to $20 per square foot.
Homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repair or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. Most policies will cover damage from a covered event, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, natural disaster, or other impact damage. Your policy might pay for the full or partial cost of the repair or replacement. However, damage resulting from age, general wear and tear, or neglect is typically not covered, and you should expect to pay for those repairs out of pocket. It is best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy for full details on what is covered, how to file a claim, and what documentation is required.
