"Simon and his crew excelled at each stage of the process -- from our initial conversation about our needs, getting us a clear proposal at a competitive price, to actually carrying out the work efficiently and competently. The crew did a fine job in a timely way. We are most pleased with the result and recommend this contractor unreservedly."

"Our experience with Elite Construction was nothing less than top notch! From the initial estimate and design to the actual construction phase, we felt blessed to have chosen Sergey and his crew! Great guys. Fast. Thorough. Cleanest job site I’ve ever seen! Just the best! Took about 2 1/2 weeks ...to remove the tub, vanities, old nasty flooring, and cabinets and replace them with new everything. Tub became a walk-in shower. We had an issue with a lighted mirror that we ordered via third party, and a delivery delay with our flooring tiles, but it didn’t really phase us. Sergey made sure we were informed about everything. Amazing communication between contractor and customer. We’ll hire him to do purr kitchen next year!!! Very impressed and happy with our new bathroom. It went from an ugly 1945 blue room to a gorgeous spa-like space! Love it!"

"A Miracle! We bought a house and needed a bathroom installed in the basement. The only space was a mechanical room 13’x5’. David put up a wall dividing the room in two, added an up pump for the waste water, redid walls and cut a doorway from the bedroom into the new 8’x5’ bathroom. He redid walls and flooring in both rooms. Added a sink and counter, toilet, and shower. We now have a gorgeous guest bathroom installed in our basement. If you have workers in your house for a month you want them competent and skilled, but you also want them pleasant and easy to work with, making decisions as if it was their house. Working with David is collaborative—his ideas often improved upon ours. Always quality. And neat and clean. They put up plastic to separate the work space but also put paper and plastic on the floor to walk on And Vacuumed each day as they left. This is David—proud of his work! If you need a contractor for any kind of remodel, hire DRC!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"Harmon & Harmon is our go to contractor. Dennis Harmon is ALWAYS responsive and happy to get the job done. When no other foundation contractor would take the job, H&H gladly accepted and knock it out with stellar work. Highly recommended! What was originally a foundation job turned into hiring them for other facets of our remodel. We now have a lasting relationship and several more jobs for them to do."

"We selected Vision Built as our contractor even though their bid was not the lowest. Martin Sakwi | Managing Principal, did an excellent job of listening carefully and finding the exact right solutions for our project. We were just hours away from pulling the trigger, signing the construction agreement, and starting the construction project. However, we got an offer from a private investor to buy our property as is. The offer was significant and one we could not ignore. However, we have already told Martin we plan to use Vision Built Construction on our next real estate investment endeavor."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.
