The Great Wide Open has an excellent reputation building in San Juan County for the past six years, almost exclusively on Henry Island. My work there has been for a small community of friends and neighbors I’ve known most of my life, where honesty and professionalism is vital to my business. Recently moving to San Juan Island I'm now open to work other than on Henry. I specialize in unique builds including saunas, decks, outdoor furniture, and gardens constructed with locally reclaimed lumber, but am no stranger to new construction. I also remodel decks, roofs, and outbuildings, and enjoy building walking paths through beautiful forests. Interested to hear what you need built!

Initially we were a little guarded because of all the horror stories you hear about shiesty contractors, but our experience with Paul has been nothing but positive throughout the entire build. He has a keen attention to detail and values good quality work. For example, there were a couple crucial details that were not described by our engineer, and Paul worked hard to determine the right course of action. In the end, what he came up with was better than we could have imagined. Not only is he personable and a knowledgeable contractor, he has an eye for aesthetic which was a delight as we discussed design options, from trim details to pergola hardware. In the end, Paul and his team built us a stunning 800 sf 2 story ADU and 400 sf basement garage, that feels spacious and contemporary while beautifully tying together with the exterior of our existing 1920s Tudor Revival home. I can not recommend Burlingame Contracting enough! Thank you Paul!!"
