"Ruland Hot Tubs did a fantastic job repairing our church baptistry when the heating element was shorting out. He was able to come on very short notice, was extremely friendly, and completed the repair faster than we expected. His knowledge and professionalism really stood out. We highly recommend him, and our church is very thankful for his excellent service."

"I called on a Friday morning and left a message. Todd called back within an hour and happened to be at a job closeby. He said he could come over and look at it in an hour. Great! He came and looked and took pictures. He gave me a lot of information about why and how the stone got damaged. Todd sent a formal quote the following Monday with a detailed explanation of the work that would be done. We agreed and scheduled a start date. Todd and his crew worked according to the schedule. They were very clean and did a great job. It is apparent they care about the quality of their work. We will have them here again to seal our other bathroom shower enclosure. And we will have them back when it's time to reseal. They were all great guys."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Yes, air baths are good for you. They promote relaxation, improve circulation, and can even hydrate your skin. Since they’re gentler than water jets and whirlpools, they are a good choice for a wide range of homes and users, from children to adults. You can maximize the benefits by using them regularly for stress relief and by pairing the bubble effects with calming music, low lighting or chronotherapy, aromatherapy, and other relaxation techniques.

If you want to have a chemical-free spa, or if you are wondering how to keep your hot tub clean naturally, there are several options. Some individuals choose to run their hot tub without treatment at all and simply clean it more often (although you risk bacteria, fungi, and algae growth if you take this route); others use natural products like vinegar or Borax. Ozone, ultraviolet light, and electrolysis systems are also eco-friendly ways to have a clean hot tub without chemicals. Saltwater hot tubs are popular with people who are sensitive to chlorine, bromine, and other traditional hot tub chemicals.

When your hot tub is not in use, you can keep it at a constant soaking temperature of around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. For extended periods of non-use, you can lower the temperature by about five degrees. This slight decrease makes it easier and quicker to heat back up to a desirable level when you're ready to use it again. Additionally, you might consider lowering the temperature by a couple of degrees during the summer to avoid feeling overheated.

Many people find saltwater tubs worth the upfront expense. They cost less to maintain than traditional hot tubs, so you can save in the long term. Maintenance is also easier, typically involving balancing the pH and cleaning the tub rather than adding chemicals. They’re also gentler on sensitive skin, and you won’t walk away with a strong chlorine odor.

No. In fact, some owners prefer to “summerize” their hot tubs and use them primarily over winter to enjoy the contrast of cold and hot water. It’s possible to keep the tub filled and running year-round, and some pros may even recommend this method compared to the work and risks of a full winterization every year.

However, keeping the hot tub running will require additional resources. You’ll use more power and more chemicals to keep it in good shape. Weigh the pros and cons of your situation before making a decision.
