I prefer to make all the components (all moldings, base, casings, trim) of a project in house out of actual hardwood (Janka 1000+) or higher, so I can ensure that every part of my designs, meet my standard of quality. I don't use MDF or particle board in any of my designs. You can get that elsewhere. My desire is to make your idea an heirloom piece. Something your grand children can use and reminisce about.
