Cyrus Construction LP

Nova Basement Finishing, in conjunction with Cyrus Construction, just completed a basement renovation at our home in Falls Church, Va. They took an unfinished basement and turned it into a beautiful space. We added a half bathroom, egress window, a storage closet, and closets for HVAC. The bid, material selection, permits, etc processes were all seamless and expertly handled. They started the project on time and finished in the estimated construction timeline. I was very pleased with the crew, who was diligent and did their best to minimize disruption, and contain and cleanup the inherently messy process. The team was also very responsive on questions and concerns that arose during the project. They also kept us well informed when water or electricity had to be shutoff for brief periods and coordinated with us to minimize the impact. Overall, I am very happy with the finished project, the crew, and whole team who supported the project. We are very much looking forward to using this new space

We relocated to the Alexandria/Springfield area a few months ago and decided that we wanted to finish our basement in our single-family home. After obtaining a few bids, we settled on Cyrus Construction. In the end, we could not have been any more pleased with our decision. The project manager (Farzan Beyrami) was superb and displayed professionalism at all times. The job actually started ahead of schedule and completed ahead of schedule. The basement looks fantastic. Thus, we highly recommend Cyrus Construction to anyone in the DC Metro area in need of home improvement projects

DMV Kitchen & Bath Inc
5.0
We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015 and with Javier in remodeling of 1 bathroom, construction of an outdoor shed, and finally remodeling of our 1st and 2nd floors. For details on this more recent 2022 project consult my review elsewhere on Anji. . The construction area consisted of two sides of the basement--the “finished” side for an office *** guest room plus a small hallway; the other, a larger “unfinished” side for storage. The project began by moving everything in the small hallway to other parts of the house. Then they cleared what would be the “finished” side of the basement moving the sofa bed, several desks, 3 bookcases, a couple office chairs, a table, several bookcases, 7 file cabinets, clothes and other items from the closet, and numerous boxes of books plus files removed from file cabinets to the other side of the basement or, when necessary, to other parts of the house, outdoor shed, and garage while they worked on the “finished” side. Some of the items in the “unfinished” side had to be moved out of the basement to another part of the house to make room for heavier items that could not be lugged upstairs without breaking someone’s back. Two more file cabinets that I had not yet emptied they moved on a dolly to the other side of the basement. I regretted having emptied the 7 other file cabinets so that even more boxes with file contents had to be carefully labelled and moved to the other side. That was my fault! It was a complex undertaking since we were adding to what was already stored on the “unfinished” side, but the men were creative, cooperative, and experienced in meeting the challenge with us. The work began on the “finished” side and small hallway with demolition of the existing ceiling and lighting. Once the men cleaned up that mess they installed electrical cabling, wood, and drywall for the ceiling. They repaired the 2 feet of drywall around the bottom perimeter of the wall. Once the basic structure was in place they applied 2 coats of plaster to the walls and ceiling, and then sanded them. They taped the corners and joints. Following our selection of paint, they applied primer on the walls and ceiling, sanded, and then applied 2 coats of off-white paint to the walls and ceiling. What a beautiful transformation of the walls! To prepare for the installation of the luxury vinyl tile floor planks on the “finished” side and hallway they evened out the existing concrete with additional concrete. They lay the beautiful, brownish-gray floor planks on the concrete floor. Javier convinced us that the brownish-gray would be a good selection and he was right. Then the men installed baseboards and shoe molding around walls of the finished side and hallway. At some point they installed 8 recessed lights. What amazing acoustics in that room while it was still empty! In the latter phase of the “finished” side Alvaro repaired, sanded, and painted the stairway and lay the luxury vinyl tile floor planks to the stairs. To match the stairway, he sanded and stained the stair railing to match the stairs. He also repaired, sanded, and painted the walls off-white on either side of the stairway and the ceiling. Finally he painted the door separating the basement and kitchen. What a major transformation of that stairway! We were so pleased with the results! In the next phase of the project we transferred our attention to the “unfinished” side. After covering all the furniture, boxes, etc. with plastic they installed electrical cabling, wood, and dry wall on the ceiling. Then they applied plaster to the ceiling, sanded it, primed and painted it with 2 coats of paint. Then they installed 11 recessed lights to what previously was a deep, dark dungeon. When that major work was completed and the plastic removed, they vacuumed the area as best they could and moved the furniture and some of the boxes and bins back to the “finished” side. After a gap in construction Alvaro installed four heavy-duty, industrial-welded, steel storage units with adjustable shelves along the walls of the “unfinished” side of the basement so we didn’t have to worry about flimsy shelves collapsing with the weight of heavy boxes and plastic bins. Gradually we filled the shelves and file cabinets, moving some items temporarily stored in other parts of the house back to the basement. Alvaro (?) also installed a steel storage unit at one end of the garage to hold our daughters’ heavy boxes, some of which had been moved out of the basement and were collapsing with the weight of far too many boxes stacked on each other. Thanks to Javier for that creative solution to the problem! The DMV workmen did some additional jobs not directly related to repairing and painting walls and ceilings, installing hardwood/vinyl floors and lighting in the basement. Once the major work was done in the basement they went upstairs and moved some of the remaining displaced items to other parts of the house, garage, and shed. They installed a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, secured 2 bookcases to the wall, installed 3 transition pieces on the floors beneath the doorways, and installed 3 dimmers for the lights. After completing most of the work in the basement they performed extra tasks not listed in the contract upstairs, tasks like tightening the screws in a door that would not close, installing a toilet seat, repairing a knob on one of our utility closets, and moving an office chair in the family room to the garage for goodwill. Fabio installed 4 internet connections: 2 in the basement, 1 in the family room on the ground floor, and 1 in the den on the second floor. Finally my husband and I could use our computers! Then when all was said and done the men installed dimmers swept and cleaned the two sides of the basement and hallway one last time. Muchas gracias to Alex and Wilmer for doing most of the moving, cleaning, and trash collection, to Alvaro and Cesar for doing the construction including installation of the shelving units, to Fabio for installing the 4 internet connections, and to Orlando and Jose for wrapping things up at the end. Bon trabajo! The quality of materials and workmanship on the basement remodeling was exceptional as we have come to expect of this company. And because we are an elderly couple we really appreciated the extra help in moving things around in the basement and around the house. The workmen were reliable, polite, honest, skilled, hardworking, and flexible in adjusting to additions and changes from time to time. They always took extra care to clean up at the end of the day and to pick up trash as it was collected. The price seems reasonable given the extra work not previously budgeted. Javier was great at planning, communicating, and allowing for extra time when we needed it to make decisions on where to put things or to do some of the moving ourselves, but he could certainly have benefited from having a right-hand man to assist him when he was not immediately available. We would highly recommend DMV for home remodeling projects. This company did a superb job with our basement renovation. Omar came to the house and personally evaluated the project. The foreman, Ainea, and his assistant, Robert, accomplished everything we wanted done and finished sooner than expected. They obviously take pride in their work, and were more than willing to work with us in explaining the process and adjusting when we wanted changes made. Moss Building & Design
5.0
We chose Moss for our 2022 basement remodel, and we’re so glad we did! Our project was a full remodel of a partially finished basement, including a full bathroom remodel, wall removal, new flooring, new lighting, and electrical work to get old wiring up to code. We were impressed by the team we worked with at Moss throughout the process, and we’re delighted with the final product. Our project manager Tyler was an excellent communicator – he kept us up to speed on all aspects of the process and was highly accessible, responding quickly to any questions we had along the way. We enjoyed the collaborative design process and appreciated how mindful the team was about sticking to our budget. Throughout the design process, the team was very transparent about what choices would increase costs and/or extend the timeline, which helped us make smart tradeoffs. The work itself was high quality, and the workers in our home were uniformly thoughtful and courteous. They also did a great job protecting the rest of our house from the construction dust

I had a great experience using Basement Remodeling. I liked that they sent a schedule each week outlining what to expect. The project manager was easy to get in touch with if we ever had any concerns. The basement looks great and I'm excited to start spending time down there.

Phoenix Home Services Inc
5.0
We have used Phoenix Home Services for five projects in the past fourteen months. 1) New large deck with screened in porch, travertine walkways and steps 3) master bathroom remodel, 4) large outdoor shed installation with concrete pad, and 5) to convert a storage area in the basement to a fifth bedroom. They are excellent at design, very responsive, work quickly and professionally and priced fairly. In every instance, they completed the job ahead of schedule with minimal disruption. We had one warranty issue and they fixed that immediately without complaint, that’s really a key in whom you select, do they stand behind their work? At this point, they are like family to us and we don’t even consider other contractors. Clint does excellent designs, listen to what he says, because he calls it right

Adam Contracting
5.0
My only regret is not hiring Adam Contracting sooner. From the beginning of the project, I was updated on the schedule and cost. All of the employees were professional, and skilled, and left my house clean after each task. If I had issues or noticed something that needed to be changed the owner addressed the concern immediately. I am very happy with the finished project

"We hired Capstone to remodel/upgrade the master bathroom in our townhouse. It is a small bathroom and the total remodel took about two weeks and was completed on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with the results, and our experience with Capstone from start to finish was excellent. I specifically want to highlight the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail in all aspects of the work, including plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting and especially tiling (did an amazing job with the glass tile accent wall). Everything looks absolutely perfect and is functional. Furthermore, Stephen and his crew were always very pleasant, kept the work area as clean as possible, and were great at communicating (ideas/recommendations, challenges that came up, and any additional costs) through the duration of the project. We highly recommend Capstone for any bathroom remodel project and will definitely use them again in the future.

"I would absolutely recommend Best Homes LLC. Jonathan and Jeffrey did an excellent job on my basement remodel. I was on a time crunch to sell my house and urgently needed to remodel my basement by building a full kitchen with wet bar, installing wood floor and stairway, interior painting, and light fixture replacements. They promised to complete this in a month, but got it done in less than 30 days, all without sacrificing quality. It was so stunning, just one week after they finished, I got an offer on my home. I have never seen a group of people work in such a coordinated, efficient, and diligent manner. His separate teams for plumbing, electricity, carpentry, flooring, and cabinet and appliance installation were extremely punctual, professional, and dedicated, sometimes working well into the evening. They never missed a schedule. The quality of their work was supreme. All county inspections passed. Jonathan also went above and beyond to accommodate my change orders along the way, and turned out very nicely. Above all, their pricing was very reasonable and more competitive than most quotes I got. I want to say thank you to Jonathan and the team and wish Best Homes LLC continued success!!!

"I am sincerely excited to be providing this review of Basement Remodeling's finishing of my basement in Odenton, Md. I was extremely impressed with the methodical system that was utilized throughout the project, from the first day when Eric Campbell, the project manager, and his managerial crew visited our property to review and initiate the finish plans and change our basement lock for theirs (eliminating the need for us to have to share our house keys) to the final day - only 7 weeks later - when they returned to replace our basement lock and close out the job. Our basement finishing involved transforming @ 800 sq. ft of unpartititioned unfinished space into a music studio, media room, small office and fully tiled bathroom, with linen closet. All of the trade professionals - plumbers, electricians, HVAC crew, carpenters, interior designer, cleaners, etc. - integrated seamlessly with the project manager. They were all professional, courteous, always on time to the job site and all did excellent work. The project manager sent weekly emails detailing the work schedule for each upcoming week; 95% of the time, his projections were totally on point! The finished product is beautiful and we are totally pleased. A special shoutout to Tom Hummer, who was our initial contact who visited our home to discuss our initial design concept and provide ides and the eventual price quote. Whereas other contractors took over a week to quote the project, Tom got it done in 24 hours, with detailed drawings, and a total cost breakdown - with stayed consistent throughout the project!

"Click did a great job updating our kitchen and sunroom. Both rooms were last renovated in the 1970's and definitely needed some attention. Alan listened to our requests, made recommendations, and brought the whole thing together. My family left town for duration of the work and Alan did a good job communicating and sending pictures. Work was completed on schedule and within budget even with the unexpected things you find in an older home. Highly recommended.

"5 STARS for Jay and his team from Monova Homes. We started a bathroom remodel during the supply chain slow down early 2022. Monova was able to move the start date at my request a couple times and maintain the price quoted. Once all the materials I was providing became available, Monova started work immediately. The team was professional and courteous and the quality of the workmanship excellent. There were no mysterious 'NO SHOW' days. The one day the team did not work, Jay had advised me in advance they would not be there. We had several contract changes that were requested by me and couple unforeseen differing site conditions. Monova worked through these changes at a reasonable cost and without any impact to schedule. We are 100% satisfied with their work and highly recommend Monova Homes. Frank B. Alexandria, VA
