"I have been hiring Cody Malone since we purchased our house in July 2012. They have switched out outlets, installed indoor ceiling fans, installed outdoor ceiling fans, ran electrical to my outdoor water feature and switched out my light fixtures. I plan to hire them again when I add electric to my detached garage. They always do a great job and arrive when they say they will. I have never had a single issue and they have been to my house for no less than six different projects!"

Customers say: True professional

"Fox Trail Electric is a pleasure to work with. I’ve used this company for small jobs such as replacing outlets to bigger jobs of installing a new electrical box and running electric outlets outside. They consistently complete jobs in a timely manner and always clean the area when finished."

"It was difficult for me to describe what type of wire had been severed by a previous work crew -- who never bothered to tell me that they had cut a wire while they jack-hammered my back concrete deck --  so we agreed that when the electrician had another job in my area, he would stop by to assess my workscope.  He did that on Friday -- fortunately I was here because I got no call in advance  -- and he concluded that the work could be performed at that time.  The wire was reconnected and tested to see if all of the electricity-consuming featured in the gazebo worked.  Not all did, but that was the fault of the appliance, not the work performed by the electrician.  I asked that, as an extra service, he tack up another electrical line so that I wouldn't sever it when I mowed along the edge and under my deck, and he did so cheerfully.  The two-man crew was here for a bit more than an hour and accomplished what I had asked him to do in the Angie's List Big Deal, which was two man-hours of electrical work of any kind.  I have greater peace of mind now that my dogs can play in the back yard without my worrying that they will come in contact with a live wire..

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Winchester, address urgent issues like burning odors, visible sparks, or frequent breaker trips right away to ensure safety. Schedule panel upgrades or surge protection before peak summer storms, as these can impact reliability. Less critical projects, such as adding smart home features or updating light fixtures, can be planned for later. Always consider Winchester’s inspection timelines when prioritizing electrical work.

Helpful?

In Winchester, overloading outlets with space heaters during winter or running multiple appliances on a single circuit can strain your system. Letting dust build up in breaker panels or neglecting to check outdoor outlets after storms can also cause premature wear. Regularly test GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms, and avoid using extension cords as permanent solutions to help preserve your electrical system’s longevity.

Helpful?

Completing electrical upgrades in Winchester can significantly enhance your home’s value and attract buyers seeking modern features. Projects like panel replacement, updated wiring, and smart home installations are especially appealing in Winchester’s competitive market. These improvements not only boost safety and energy efficiency but also help your home stand out, particularly for buyers prioritizing move-in-ready properties with reliable, up-to-date electrical systems.

Helpful?

Warning signs in Winchester homes include persistent breaker trips during high AC use, outlets that feel warm to the touch, or lights dimming when large appliances start. In older properties, buzzing sounds from outlets or switches and GFCI outlets that won’t reset are red flags. Addressing these issues early can prevent more extensive electrical repairs, especially given Winchester’s mix of historic and modern homes.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Winchester, use copper wiring rated for wet and humid conditions, as it handles Virginia’s climate well. Opt for high-durability outlets and switches, and select panels that are compatible with local supply sources for easier maintenance. Install weather-resistant GFCI outlets outdoors and ensure all grounding meets Winchester’s standards, which is especially important in older or historic homes to maintain safety and code compliance.
