"Best experience ever.  First they were very responsive when I requested a quote.  Then provided the designs within the week and provided all the material so all I needed to do was go by the showroom and agree with their selections because I couldn't have done it better myself and it was all within my budget. When the work started, the crew showed up when they said they would.  Each evening, they cleaned up after themselves as much as possible.  The 2 bathrooms were demolished down to the studs and the 1/2 bath replaced the sink and cabinet and the toilet.  In all it took 5 to 6 weeks.  The workmanship was amazing.  The attention to detail was beyond compare.  We even decided on some structural changes so that my walk-in shower would be larger.  I can't say enough good things about this company.  I have already recommended them to my family and friends and will continue to praise their work.

"John did an amazing job tiling a new shower we installed in our basement. His quality is fantastic and he is very reasonably priced. The shower had some odd angles and John was very meticulous with his work. We could not be happier with how it turned out and would absolutely not hesitate to use him again. Fantastic communication and also an all around great guy! Thanks John!!!"

"I have an old cast iron bathtub that has begun to rust on the inside. Virginia Bathtub Refinishing stripped the old finish, removed all the rust, and reglazed the entire tub. It looks brand new. The job took about 3 hours to complete. The company was professional and did an excellent job. I paid $390 for the work."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Cracks are usually repaired using an epoxy filler that matches the countertop's color. The area is cleaned, the epoxy applied, and then polished to blend with the surface, restoring both strength and appearance.

To remove cloudiness from marble, use equal parts baking soda and water to form a paste. Apply it to the surface, allow it to sit for at least two hours, then wipe with a microfiber cloth. Another option is adding a couple of dish soap drops to warm water and wiping the surface after you’ve applied it to the surface. You may also consider using a liquid stone cleaner.

Yes, you can generally put hot pans directly on a granite countertop without worrying about cracking, as it is a durable, heat-resistant stone that can withstand high temperatures. However, it is still highly recommended to use a trivet or hot pad as a precaution. Prolonged or repeated exposure to high heat can potentially cause discoloration or damage the countertop's sealant, making it more susceptible to staining. Additionally, the heat from a pan can transfer to the granite, creating a burn hazard for anyone who touches the surface shortly after.

Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:

  • Marble tile: $7–$10

  • Granite tile: $5–$15

  • Marble slab: $25–$60

  • Granite slab: $50–$100

A water-based, low- or no-VOC sealer is typically a good choice for marble countertops. Choose a sealant that is certified safe for contact with food when applying to kitchen countertops. For high-traffic areas, look for formulas that have heat-resistant and acid-resistant features. While there are economical and convenient spray-on sealers, they don’t coat the surface as effectively as the ones you apply with a pad or brush.
