"My wife and I contacted Ogburn Construction, Inc. after seeing one of their TV ads. They specialize in concrete driveway and sidewalk repair. Although we were very skeptical of their processes for lifting sunken and cracked drives and sidewalks, we were hopeful that their sales presentation and free quote would be the answers to our concrete problems. Well, after the sales rep made his presentation and presented his findings and recommendations, we were more than impressed. All of the reviews we had seen online were positive, and the customer photos of their previous work were quite impressive. We signed the contract and less than a month later, they were onsite working on our sunken and cracked garage floor, driveway, and sidewalks. All of the workers and supervisory staff were friendly, professional and polite, and they worked extremely hard in the terrible July heat, which was in the high 90's. I remained skeptical of the final results throughout the repair process, but when we saw the final product we were literally blown away by what they accomplished. They lifted our garage floor so there was no gap at the bottom of my garage door, and they lifted our driveway and sidewalks so they were level again. All of the cracks were repaired and colored to match the concrete, and they even scrubbed the aggregate driveway and sidewalks and applied a commercial sealant to make everything look brand new. I can't thank Ogburn Construction enough for their hard work and improvements to our home. Both my wife and I would recommend them to anyone with similar concrete issues. J. S."

"Miguel, the owner, was exceptionally easy to work with. He is very responsive to questions before going with his company. Requested references from multiple clients with very positive comments. Once I decided to have his company install the sidewalk, he followed my request to change the look by adding a curve to the walkway. He did not ask for money down, but payment in full after the job was done and approved. I would highly recommend him. He was"

"ArmorGuard coating on a new garage: David and the team were great to work with. He was so helpful with his recommendations. With the current price of lumber and materials, I wanted to protect the new garage floor for years to come. They recommended coating the apron area outside the garage for extra protection and I am so glad I did this. The also provided a protective coating over the cement area going into the side door. Super happy with the results and service."

"This was the second time that Dan Kirby worked on a paint job for me. Last year, he repainted the exterior of my house including re-glazing the windows. It was so well done that I think it helped to sell the house very quickly at a better than expected price. After I moved into my new residence, wallpaper needed to be removed from the kitchen and bath, including on the ceiling. Dan did an excellent job in the wallpaper removal and wall repair as well as the painting so that the walls look like new. Dan proved to once again be prompt in providing the estimate which was reasonable. As in the past, Dan was reliable in showing up on time every day, staying on schedule, and working diligently on the project. I am definitely planning on having Dan Kirby re-paint the rest of the house interior in the next few months. I highly recommend him for both exterior and interior jobs."

"Thoroughly professional from start to finish. Primary issue was an HVAC unit in unconditioned attic space laboring to either heat or cool our upper level. Dennis and Mark presented several options and described what they recommended step by step (combination of spray foam, batts, and blown-in insulation) and why, and patiently answered any questions we had, providing thorough and understandable explanations. Once we accepted their proposal, we were scheduled very quickly. They showed up on time, did high quality work, and positive results have been just as predicted. Mark was on-site to supervise and direct any real-time adjustments to the game plan. Altogether a very positive experience. Both Dennis and Mark are friendly, actively listen, and obviously know their stuff. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanx Dennis and Mark!"

Epoxy Flooring questions, answered by experts

When you are laying hardwood flooring—or any other material that does not flex well with humidity—you will want to check the moisture level of your subfloor before proceeding. Flooring like luxury vinyl tile and bamboo performs better than more rigid materials in environments where moisture might be present. However, thorough testing is always an excellent preventative measure to control and monitor water in your home.

Yes, you can seal old concrete, but proper preparation is essential. Before sealing, ensure the concrete is clean, dry, and free of any old sealant. To check if resealing is necessary, place a few drops of water on the surface; if they are absorbed in less than five minutes, it's time to reseal. If you are using the same type of sealer that was previously applied, you may not need to remove the old layer. However, if you are applying a different type of sealer, the existing one must be removed. Additionally, repair or fill any cracks to create a smooth base before you begin sealing.

DIY is possible for small areas. Professional installation ensures proper leveling and finishing for durability.

Yes, you can seal an old concrete floor as long as you remove stains and repair damage before sealing. Remove everything from the garage and clear the floor throughout with a concrete cleaner and power washing. Fill in cracks larger than 1/8 of an inch wide and remove all grease and rust stains before sealing. Make sure your concrete is fully dried before applying sealer.

Whether it's better to stain or paint concrete depends on your budget, desired aesthetic, and DIY skill level. Generally, staining is a more durable option because the stain soaks into the concrete's surface and won't wear away like a topical paint coating. Painting concrete can trap moisture underneath the paint layer, which may cause the concrete to deteriorate over time. However, concrete paint offers a wider variety of colors, is typically easier and less expensive to apply, and is effective at covering up existing stains or blemishes on the surface.
