"I was the general contractor for a home I remodeled in Arizona and have assisted in various construction projects. I have decent knowledge of construction and have dealt with many contractors over the years. Troy and Mark were pleasant to work with, and obviously take pride in their work. Much of the work was completed by their 2-man team (i.e. framing, trim work, flooring, cabinet/countertop installation, and painting). I was impressed with the quality of their work and attention to detail. Troy's subcontractors were equally skilled. Also, I appreciated and incorporated Troy's suggested modifications to the original plan. In summary, I would highly recommend Troy-Bilt Construction, and I will be hiring them again for future projects!"

"I was very pleased with the work and how the job turned out. I went to different places looking for the exact color scheme I wanted to match my cabinets. When measuring my kitchen the owner said he had the exact piece for me. I trusted his judgement ( tho I was nervous). The countertops were just right! After being in my house for over a year I am happier now than ever with my purchase. The guys that installed them were nice also."

Troy Best is an outstanding contractor. I've owned my home 9 years and had I found him when I bought a fixer-upper I would have saved myself a lot of money and frustration.

It is rare to find someone that is a hard worker, reasonably priced and versatile.

I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again and will recommend him to everyone I know!

Thank you Troy!!!

Margie at Lake Monticello.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.

The longest part of building a custom home is the design phase. It takes multiple professionals and a ton of work to bring your vision for your dream home to life while sticking to a homebuilding budget and also ensuring everything is built to code. Expect the design phase for a custom home build to take six months to a year.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

Mediterranean architecture comes from traditional building styles of countries on the Mediterranean Sea mixed with French, Greek, and Moroccan influences. There are three main types of Mediterranean architecture: Italian Renaissance, Spanish Revival, and modern.

Some signature components of Mediterranean architecture include red terra cotta roofs, archways, stucco siding, and metal detailing on windows. These homes often have balconies and outdoor living areas.

It usually takes around four to six months to build and install a modular home, although your timeline could go up to around eight months if there are delays in the manufacturing or permitting process. Heavy site preparation and foundation pouring can extend that timeline if you need them, as can customizations you want for your modular home. Your modular home company should be able to provide an estimate for the construction timeline before you sign any contracts or agree to any work.
