"I was in the process of getting a 50 year old house ready for sale. The hardwood floors were very dirty and it had been years since they were polished. S and K came out promptly, made a very fair cost estimate, and did the job promptly and professionally. When completed, the floors glistened!! It was such a difference. I have received many positive comments regarding the floors. Would recommend S and K without hesitation!! Also, the house sold! Julie J. in Newport News"

"We were moving out of our home and putting it up for sale. I chose Maidpro as I've used them before and their prices are amazing. Additionally, I needed carpets cleaned, and they worked with a carpet company too, so I had a one-stop shop with this company. They were very helpful and worked with the changing schedules and additions to what had to be cleaned. We had four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, sunroom, and two living spaces that needed to be cleaned. The floors were a mix of vinyl, hardwood, tile, and carpet. I will post a different review for the carpets as Eco Carpet Pro took care of the carpets. We were not there when the cleaning went on as we had already left the area, but our realtor said the work went well and the house looked great. We saw the pictures that were taken after the cleaning was complete and the house looked marvelous! Everything appeared shiny and fresh. I wish I knew what they used on the hardwood floors because they looked fantastic. We got compliments on the cleanliness of the home. I would hire this company again, most assuredly."

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

The best solution for mopping floors depends on the type of floor you have, but a good all-around or multi-purpose DIY floor cleaner is 2 cups of warm water, 5 to 10 drops of liquid dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. This is safe to use on tile, laminate, wood, polished concrete, vinyl, and more, as it’s relatively neutral and lacks caustic and abrasive chemicals that could be harmful to children and pets. You can also use a multi-purpose commercial cleaner, but make sure to follow the directions for safety.

Most DIY floor cleaners don’t require rinsing, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t add too much dish soap or oil to the cleaner to avoid having to rinse it after cleaning. For non-wood floors, mix 8 parts warm water, 1 part vinegar, and 1 part baking soda with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, use olive oil in that same mixture instead of the vinegar. You can let these solutions air-dry after cleaning your floors with them, although you should manually dry your floors if they aren’t waterproof.

The cost for professional floor cleaning is $250 on average. This cost can range from $100 to $1,500, depending on the type of flooring and its square footage.

For example, natural stone flooring requires specialized techniques and care, so you'll spend closer to the higher end of the cost range. The cost of cleaning tile and grout is more cost-effective, where you'll pay an average of $0.50 to $3.50 per square foot.

Before installing shoe molding, evaluate redoing or refinishing any floors and painting your walls or baseboard before putting on your shoe molding. If you don’t already have baseboard trim, you should install that before adding shoe molding. Shoe molding is the final touch. Additionally, a carpenter or other professional that’s installing shoe molding might also give you a deal on installing crown molding and replacing other trim if you get them done at the same time.

Like any other type of flooring, you will need to keep up with regular maintenance on your epoxy floors to keep them in the best shape possible; however, it is not like hardwood floors inside a house, which require special care and more consistent maintenance.

Just make sure you use the right cleaning tools and solutions. Avoid using harsh tools like scrub brushes or hard-bristled brooms. You should also skip cleaners that are highly acidic, including white vinegar.
