That's because ovens don't have as many moving parts as other popular large appliances, like dishwashers and washing machines, so they don't wear out as quickly.

The magnetron, which is the component that generates the microwave energy used to heat your food, is the most likely piece to cause your appliance to fail. Unfortunately, your microwave won’t serve any purpose without a functioning magnetron, so not only is this the most common repair, but it’s also the most important. 

Repairing a broken magnetron usually costs between $100 and $200 or $175 on average. About half of that cost goes toward labor, and the other half is for a new magnetron. Higher-end microwaves may demand larger or more complex components, which could increase your repair cost.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.

You should check and calibrate your oven every year. Older ovens tend to be less accurate as they take on more wear and tear. If you need to recalibrate your oven more frequently, then it’s time to call a repair technician.
