"We needed a 60+ foot dying oak tree removed from a really tight space between our house and our neighbor's. They did an amazing job. They felled the tree and hit what looked like - to me - a far-too-narrow "window" between two small decorative trees on the ground. However, they notched and roped the tree, and it fell right on target (i.e. between those two trees with no room for error). They had the tree down, cut up, loaded up, and removed, plus cleaned up the yard (leaf blowers), within 2.5 hours. They had given the estimate a few days prior, and when I called to schedule they came out that same afternoon. They did great work, were careful and professional, all for a reasonable price, and we will certainly keep their card for future work."

Small jobs welcome

"They were there the day after they gave the lowest estimate, the only servive willing to do exactly what I asked. They did the job great, fast and professionally. I've used a lot of tree contractors and they have been head and shoulders above all others. I will use them for all my future tree work."

Customers say: Quick response

"Mr. Pauly's work was exceptional. From estimate to clean up, we could not be happier with his service. He is knowledgeable, professional and an absolute artist in his tree work. He turned our ivy covered, dead limb tree into the beautiful tree it was meant to be....for us and all the neighbors to enjoy. We would proudly recommend him and his business to anyone in need."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, if your neighbor’s tree hangs over your yard, you can legally trim overhanging branches. Keep in mind that you cannot cross your property line to cut the trees, and if you damage the tree by trimming it, your neighbor could sue you. Depending on the type of tree and value, this could mean dishing out two to three times the value of the tree.

It’s worth noting that the specifics of this type of tree maintenance and the guidelines around it may vary by location. Do your research and, most importantly, consult with your neighbor.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.
