"We hired Echo to re-plumb our house and it was a miserable experience. First Rene tried to install a water line (twice!) even though we told him we already had one, then when the County messed up our sewer connection and we were going to try to get some money back for the mistake, he was evasive and refused to answer what the difference was between what he spent and what was budgeted. Then he kept demanding money from us and our GC before he would commit to showing up again. Then he installed the $1k stormwater sump pump AT THE WRONG END OF THE BASEMENT. So the water puddles at the south end, while our shiny, expensive sump pump sits dry at the north end. One day, Rene just showed up and said he would do all the finishes over the next three days (no warning, no scheduling, no call), forcing us to cancel a trip to NC to be available. Then HE DIDN'T SHOW UP for two of the three days. During finishes, there was problem after problem and instead of educating us on what we needed to get, he'd just leave and disappear for weeks. The hot/cold water lines were plumbed backward and they ripped huge holes in the drywall to fix that, then there was a problem with the master shower that Rene said would cost several hundred dollars to fix (another plumber fixed it in 5 minutes), and then HE JUST DISAPPEARED. For weeks. AFTER being paid. Dishonest. Uncommunicative. Unprofessional. Poor quality work. Not enough bad things to say about it."

"We were notified by the water company that we had a leak in our water supply between our house and the water main. It seemed like we were facing a complicated repair that would require extensive trenching and going through walls as well as a concrete floor. Randall from Jefferson Plumbing offered a trenchless replacement option that worked like a miracle. He installed a new line where the existing pipe had been with minimal disruption inside our house and outside by the meter. He was a consummate professional, explaining all our options as well as how his trenchless process worked from start to finish. He did the work quickly - basically in a day and a half. I would offer him my highest recommendation for service and value."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you’ll be digging up your floor to get access to your pipes when putting in a sewer backflow preventer, this would also be a good time to take care of any other plumbing issues or renovations. For example, you could install additional pipes for a basement bathroom. Since the floor will be sealed over with concrete when you’re done, now’s a good time to take care of those bigger tasks.

Ejector pumps can only push sewage 750 feet or less. That’s because their purpose is to move waste from your home to your sewer line—which is a relatively short distance. Grinder pumps can transport sewage further, but they manage lower volumes of waste than ejector pumps (and they don’t work with septic systems).

If used correctly and sparingly, root killer shouldn’t damage your pipes. Make sure to follow the instructions on the back of the bottle or the company’s website to avoid any unintended damages. However, when it comes to copper sulfate, it’s better to avoid it. This type of root killer can damage your plumbing and the surrounding environment.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

The average cost to snake your main sewer line is around $250 for a simple snake. Most sewer line specialists charge between $45 and $200 per hour for main sewer line snaking, so the time involved plays a major role. The price you’ll pay will depend on the severity of the clog, the item causing the backup, how long it takes to remove the item, and more. A more severe issue that requires unclogging a main sewer line will cost $3,100 on average.
