In 2012, my water company informed me that my outside water main was most likely leaking since my bill was over $800 for the month.  I immediately joined AngieList to find a local company that was not one of the BIG NAME plumbers in my area because I try to patronize the family-operated businesses.  At that time, the plumbers who were listed didn't have reviews that I felt I could base a sound decision on; but I wanted to support a small business owner and chose Myers.
Mr. Myers didn't know he was on Angie's List until I told him it was where I'd gotten his name.  On our initial conversation, he said he had inherited the business from his dad, that he would make an onsite visit and give me an estimate, which he did.  At that time, he was professional and, although I know nothing about plumbing, he certainly seemed to know what he was talking about. We set a date for the work, which entailed bringing in a small backhoe to dig up and replace the main line that was approximately eight feet from the water meter inside my basement.  I agreed to his price, based on his explanations of the work necessary.
On the day the work was started, Mr Myers made several back and forth trips into the basement without my being present, which was fine, until he finished the work and took me downstairs to show me the new meter.  I was shocked at the red dirt he had tracked onto the carpeted stairs, and when I talked with him about not wearing some type of protective covering over his shoes, he bent over, took a couple swipes at the bottom steps and inferred that the carpet was already worn!   I agreed, but it didn't have red dirt ground in prior to his visit.  It was his nonchalant attitude and lack of an apology that was unprofessional, even rude.
I paid Mr. Myers that day, and asked him for a receipt to present to my water company for a partial reimbursement on the $800 water bill.  He replied that he didn't have any receipts with him but would email me one later in the week.  After three weeks, two phone calls and an email; I finally got the receipt.
It has been 3 1/2 years since completion, and I've had no problems with the water line.  But ladies, if you don't want to clean red dirt tracked on carpet, or need a receipt, this is not the plumber for you.

He was about 10 minutes late to the appointment. He was dressed very nicely and seemed extremely knowledgeable and competent. He answered all my questions and made recommendations about other plumbing components (hot water heater, toilets) that I might want to replace at the same time as the repipe. He told me approximately how long the job would take and explained how and why certain things would be handled. He also provided information on different options depending on how extensive I wanted the repipe to be. I was extremely impressed. He wrote down all my contact information and told me that he would email me a quote. And then..... nothing. This was not an emergency so I was prepared to wait for the quote. However, about 3 weeks later my hot water heater leaked and I realized (on a Saturday) that I had fairly extensive damage to my living room floor. That morning I placed an emergency call to see if he could come out and drain the tank to stop the leak. A woman answered the phone and said that he would be in touch with me shortly. As I waited for him to call back I thought this would be a great opportunity to remind him about the quote. However, I was never able to do that because he never called me back. After a few hours I began to get agitated and ended up contacting another plumber who was able to come out to my house on Saturday and drain the tank.
Based on all the positive reviews it sounds like he's a very good plumber. My impression when he was at my house was that he seemed very competent and professional. However, it's not professional to not respond back to your potential customers. Based on his lack of responsiveness, I can't recommend him to others. And, I won't be contacting him again in the future.

Excellent service. I would use them again, except that find them too pricey compared to other plumbers who give excellent service. I have since used other plumbers after receiving estimates that were too high.

It turns out that when I re-ignited the pilot, I missed a step. He ignited the pilot, showed me how to do it and made sure that it was venting properly. All very professional and friendly.

I called him Monday morning, he rearranged schedule and was there in 1-1/2 hours which included a 45 minute drive. He found the problem in the well, fixed the issue which had been caused by the person who installed the well, and we had water. Very friendly and professional. I have him getting estimates for more work a our house. he is now and quot;our plumberand quot; on our handyman list.

Mr. Myers arrived at the specified time, evaluated work to be done and promptly set about doing repairs. He observed other problems I had not noticed and brought them to my attention. I approved those repairs and he performed them immediately. His time here was approximately three hours and I was thrilled with the results. I would highly recommend him to any one of my friends and acquaintences.

He was there for about an hour and he was all business. I really appreciated his advice to get a new dishwasher and garbage disposal. He is coming back later this week to install both of those items.

Excellent. The house is 12 years old. It has had a sewer gas smell in the bathrooms since we moved in five years ago. We had previously paid a and quot;master plumberand quot; to locate the problem. He was unable to do so. Mr. Myers inspected the plumbing system and found that the two vent pipes were still plugged from the pressure test done during construction of the house. He took photos of the disconnected venting pipes, connected the pipes and left the premises within an 1 hour and 15 minutes. He was very pleasant and efficient

I have worked with Myers Plumbing many times over many years for jobs as small as unclogging a drain to as big as replacing an entire plumbing system in a commercial renovation. Hodges Myers is the best plumber in the area, bar none. He is very responsive and is a Master Plumber. Very professional and communicative. Conscientious. Myers Plumbing may be more expensive than the other places initially, but they save us money and headaches by doing the job right the first time with the right materials. I trust Hodges Myers to be there when we need him and to do the job right for a fair price. I could not be happier with Myers Plumbing.

Our main water supply line ruptured underneath the yard on a Tuesday evening. After getting the water turned off at the city connection and pumping the crawlspace, we sought out recommendations for plumbers and quickly settled on Hodges Myers. He responded to my initial email promptly, and was at our house the next day around noon to investigate the issue. After a few quick tests, he made the recommendation to replace the main water line, as it appeared to have been patched in the past at least once (the material leaving the meter box did not match the material entering in the crawlspace). Hodges removed a nearly dead tree from the path of the water line, and began digging the trench on Wednesday afternoon (after having all other utility lines marked). By mid-day Thursday, we discovered that the existing sewer line was also in poor condition and made the decision to replace it as well. By late afternoon on Thursday, the new water and sewer lines were in place and the trench was filled in. He also re-graded the yard and spread grass seed and straw. I try to take care of most home repair and maintenance tasks myself, but this job was more than I could handle, especially on such short notice. Hodges Myers did a great job and I'm happy to recommend his work to others.
