"Julio is the best! Our yard was full of weeds and our trees really needed a good “hair cut”! Julio always treated customers’ gardens as his own. He would consider all the factors for you and came out with a full scale of plan which has long term result. That’s the reason why we keep hiring him!"

"I was extremely satisfied with the professional conduct of this job. I had carefully designed the structure of the shed. It was important that all the dimensions of the slab be met accurately and that the 6 posts be placed precisely and perfectly vertical. They were. Working with Jaime was very satisfying as we had numerous discussions about details as the job progressed. I provided some large salvage planks from the old shed that could be used to build forms, and he provided several significant suggestions to improve the end result. The slab was on a slight slope. He provided much deeper concrete on the downhill side to anchor the slab and resist underwash. He provided a large footer under each post before the main concrete pour, because the posts were going to carry the entire weight of the roof. I would not have thought to do that. This is the value of hiring an experienced contractor. The shed has been completed and the first delivery of sawdust has been made. The slabs stood up to the significant weight of the delivery truck as can be seen in my pictures."

Small jobs welcome

"A really awesome company to work with. We had a huge issue with standing water in our yard after it rained. The drainage system has completely taken care of that issue. Plus, it looks beautiful. We want to get our deck completely redone and when we can we will also be using these guys for that! Very professional and hardworking!"

"Mr Hill came out on a SATURDAY to look at my issue and gave me a recommendation beyond what I expected. Hired him on the spot with a written contract and paid a fair deposit. He and his son arrived as discussed and completed the work quickly and cleaned up with no mess or materials left behind. Final price was as we discussed. Need concrete work? Hire Mr Hill immediately! You won’t be sorry!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Wissam Tannous with Old Virginia Construction did superb work in replacing our concrete driveway. Full 5 star work, I recommend without any reservation. Wissam and his crew made the new driveway so that it perfectly matches the lip our our garage, and it also matches the height of the sidewalk to our front door at the left side of the driveway. So there are two slopes going across the width of the driveway, and the driveway is also going downhill. But their work in creating this new driveway looks so smooth, that you can't tell that there are these multiple simultaneous slopes in the concrete. Also, Wissam's price matched the lowest of the multiple quotes that I obtained, and he was able to perfrom the work on schedule, and in one day. 100% satisfied. Excellent work in all respects."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.
