"SafeStreets Home Security was a lifesaver! They had to troubleshoot my 3 floor townhouse unit, requiring many trips up and down the stairs. Finally determined that I needed an entire new alarm system but had all the parts and equipment available. Helped me program the app and set my security codes."
"We moved to Chevy Chase MD. I contacted three different security companies. By far Ultra Guard Security was the best. Andy was very knowable about security systems and not pushy at all. If looking for security system give them a call. You will be pleased."
"ADT has exceeded my expectations! The system is reliable, the app is easy to use, and the customer service team is always helpful. I appreciate the environmental monitoring features, which go beyond just security. Knowing my home is protected 24/7 is priceless. I highly recommend ADT to anyone looking for a trustworthy security provider."

"Fox Trail Electric provided us with excellent professional diagnostics and service. Our pool pump disconnect blew when we opened our pool, and we contacted three companies for repair estimates. Not only was Fox Trail the best estimate, Brendan and Moses very quickly found the source of the problems that the other two companies missed; this gave us immediate confidence in their capabilities. They arrived just before the appointment time for the repair and quickly got to work. They encountered and diagnosed a quirk with the pool equipment being wired from separate meter services (main house and outbuilding) and installed the correct GFCI breaker for the wiring to the pool heater, which our home warranty company failed to resolve. They installed a mounting post and weather-resistant timer and disconnect for the pool pump and organized and buried the previously messy, tangled, above-ground equipment ground wires that are no longer a tripping hazard. Brendan and Moses worked very well together and were very neat - nothing out of place when they left. Top-notch problem-solving, and we will be calling them again for other work. I highly recommend Fox Trail Electric."
"Mr. Sokol was absolutely amazing! He did an excellent job with our alarm and security system installation and made the entire process smooth and easy. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and great to work with. He took the time to make sure everything was installed properly and that we understood how the system worked. I would highly recommend Mr. Sokol to anyone looking for reliable and knowledgeable security installation. Excellent service from start to finish!"

"I self installed our FrontPoint system. It went smoothly and my questions were answered efficiently and professionally by the FrontPoint staff. I would highly recommend FrontPoint as a home security system."
"They were very professional. We had been with ADT for years but they kept raising our rates so we decide dto look at other companies and ended up going with Security One. We didn't have to get any new equipment, pay any start up fee or sign a contract. The $39.99 rate will NEVER go up which was very attractive to us. They even reimbursed us for our last month we paid for ADT. They have worked out very well since we switched over and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks Security One! "
Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts
Changing the alarm in your wireless security system is a perfectly reasonable DIY task that most people can complete on their own. Simply open the system’s control panel, remove the existing battery, and replace it with a new one. If you’re using a wired system, this may require disconnecting and reconnecting both the positive and negative wires attached to the battery, and you may want to call in a professional to help.
Insurance companies weigh the amount of potential liabilities on your property to increase (or decrease) the cost of your home insurance. They will use several factors to decide if there are more chances for peril or injury to take place at your home. These factors include your location (whether you live in an area with high risk for natural disasters), the age and condition of your home, and whether you have any “attractive nuisances”—features that both increase the aesthetic of your home and potential for injury—like a pool or treehouse.
Expect to spend an average of $150 to $500 to set up a home flood detection system. However, be aware that costs are wide-ranging. You might only spend a budget-friendly $50 to place basic, battery-operated sensors in a few key areas of your home, or $150 to set up two or three smart sensors. The purchase and professional installation of a whole-home protection system with water shutoff capabilities could cost between $500 and $1,000.
Strike plates and security plates are the same thing, but there are strike plates that offer more security than others. For the highest security, look for plates made of heavy-duty steel, reinforced strike plates thicker than regular ones, and extended strike plates. It’s much harder to break into a door with these strike plates because they hold up better to force from attempted entry.
Any type of dead bolt lock provides the highest level of safety for a single device. However, it’s also important to determine a lock's grade. Locks can come in either Grade 1, Grade 2, or Grade 3, which indicates how durable it is and if it’s constructed solidly. Safety experts recommend choosing locks based on Grade 1, which offers the highest level of durability.
