"These guys did an excellent job extending a fence to surround the trashcan area (required by the HOA). They matched the existing portion, and built a beautiful fence! I appreciate their good work."

"Bryan is an outstanding contractor. He is prompt with his appointments, his team does excellent work, is fair, flexible, and very personable. He was willing to work with me after I sustained an arm injury that kept me from completing some of the work I was going to do. He completed a beautiful 40 ft 6 x 6 retaining wall with steps and with french drainage to stop the erosion on my front lawn. After reviewing an unexpected flooding situation along the wall caused by massive rainwater downpour from a recent hurricaine, Bryan agreed to installing a channel drain to correct the problem. He also completed a drainage system along my driveway to redirect rainwater away from the lawn and into the street with which I am very pleased so far. I currently have another project that Bryan is working on and I am looking forward to having Bryan work on additional projects in the future. I would wholeheartedly and without hesitation, recommend Bryan for any of your landscaping needs."

"Castello and Billy did a great job sealcoating my Asphalt driveway. It was 5+ years since I had seal coated. There were big and small cracks. Castello used gravel and tar mixture to fill big cracks and melted rubber for the smaller cracks. He filled the cracks thoroughly while billy put sand on top, so the rubber wouldn't stick to the vehicle and come out. I was very happy with their work and the rate seemed very reasonable."

"Jason and team removed existing and broken aggregate concrete driveway and laid down asphalt. They came on time and finished when they said they would. They had serious construction equipment that didn't never touched my house or a sprinkler head right next to the driveway. Excellent job."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.
