"This is the first time i have had my driveway sealed by hand with squeegee and they did an amazing job. They cleaned it very well first and filled bigger cracks. Then put down the sealer by 5 gallon buckets and 2 men running squeegees. I t is 100 times better and thicker than spray wand sealing. i will have Magic Seal do it again in 3 years. Thank you!!!!!"

"I would highly recommend this company. The customer service from the beginning was great. The owner of the company personally came to the house and introduced himself and explained the process and asked was there any concerns? Very professional! The job was started 2 days prior to the actual contract date due to a cancellation. Again the owner came by the house to ask could they proceed earlier with the job due to a cancellation. We totally agreed! The crew that did the job was very professional and meticulous on how they were doing the driveway. As well, always keeping the site clean and clear of any debris. My wife and I was very pleased with the completion of the job and as stated earlier would highly recommend this company!"

"Replaced broken bricks and did tuckpointing on front steps and porch. In addition, installed new handrail and railing. Mr. Griggs was responsive, an expert in masonry, very customer oriented and on time."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt is made of aggregate materials (sand, rocks, and gravel) and bitumen, a viscous, petroleum-based, waterproof substance. These materials are mixed together at extremely high temperatures to form asphalt.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

Professionals ensure a solid base and smooth finish, enhancing durability and appearance.
