"I started by calling a couple of the foundation companies, but they tried to make me think my house was sinking to its ruin and wanted me to spend over $20,000 to make rock solid repairs! Fortunately I have common sense, and started calling brick masons instead. I found Hipp on Angie's List and called for an estimate. He came out, looked at the area where I had issues, and then walked around the house looking at other smaller problems. He suggested digging to the footer on the front corner, installing jacks, and trying to raise the foundation to its proper level. He also recommended re-pointing some of the other smaller areas and replacing my slooping front porch concrete. I opted for the foundation and all the brick work, leaving the porch for later. When they first attempted to lift the foundation, some cracks started to re-open around the windows on the inside, so I asked them to stop and just stabilize at that point. The replacement windows had been installed about 15 years ago and were aligned to the slope, and worked perfectly. They did an excellent job, and I am extremely pleased with the work!! Chuck even dabbed some paint on some bricks that had been damaged by a power washer, so that they would match the other bricks. He left me the paint so that I can later "dab" around bricks stained from the wash down of my aluminum siding. This is a small company (just three of them I think), and I had to call several times to get set up. And it took a while for them to get to my job. This is why the C for responsiveness. But once they started, they were prompt and professional, well worth the wait! I opted to wait on the porch work, but will hire them to do that soon. Note: I have found that the best contractors are the small, hands-on companies. They are all hard to reach, and take a while to schedule, but they tend to be fair, and do the best work!"

They were able to do the work yesterday. The concrete section came out great. The guys that were here were professional. I am going to get them to do an estimate on a shed now. "The initial meeting went fine, the man who came out seemed very knowledgeable.  Once they began the work, they finished in a timely manner, although I did notice they hit concrete in one of the locations they were trying to dig.  When I came home after they were done (I had left the final check with my daughter to take care of - mistake), I noticed the 'repairs' to the bricks were extremely sloppy:  completely different color mortar, etc.  There was a lot going on at the moment so I did not contact them right away, and then I procrastinated further since some time had already gone by and this was cosmetic, but when I finally did contact them, I was told their brick person had been fired and they would fix the problem, and he would call back the next day.  He did not call, so I sent pictures a few days later and my husband called a month or two later, but they never contacted us.  Later I found out that they had not submitted the final inspection report to the county by the deadline so things could be properly closed out, but since I did have a copy, I was able to send that in.  By the way, the 'inspection' was based on a review of the 'drive logs.'  Now I have had additional cracks/sticking doors inside and I think there may be a new crack outside (I have not compared yet with my pictures taken earlier to verify it is new.)  I have not yet contacted them about this problem to see if they will respond.

"Dave came out to do an estimate and I admitted to him that I did not know exactly how we wanted the tub/shower area laid out and that we had hoped they could give us some ideas.  He immediately gave a few suggestions from simply standing in the space but admitted that he was not an interior designer and would speak to his wife (and company co-owner), Melisa, to come up with additional ideas that may work for the space we have.  He took measurements of the entire space and in approximately a week, Melisa sent me a drawing of what they suggested for layout as well as a quote to complete the work based on that layout.  The drawing gave us a starting place to picture what we may like and/or want to change...it also prompted us to do some additional research to understand what we like and didn't like.  At the time of the estimate, I was nearly 8  months pregnant and was concerned about starting such a large project since it had to be finished by the baby's arrival.  I also communicated some changes that we wanted to incorporate into their original drawing.  She was very accepting of both - the changes as well as the timeline restrictions.  She indicated that they would work us in sooner than later and get started as soon as possible to ensure the work was finished before the baby arrived.  She quickly sent me a revised estimate based on the changes we made and provided me a list of the materials that we would need to get (based on our request to do so since we could get a military discount at Home Depot) and that we should let her know when all the materials arrived.  
The materials we purchased (tub, plumbing fixtures, tile, grout) all arrived fairly quickly.  When we went to pick them up though, the tub had been ordered in the wrong color and would take approximately 5 days to get the correct one in.  Melisa and Dave said they would start with demo regardless while we were waiting for the tub since we had the looming baby deadline.  When the tub arrived, Dave and his plumber took a look at it and said they could definitely put it in as planned, but that they felt it would require more decking than we wanted and would look good in relation to the size of shower we were planning to put next to it.  So we sent that tub back and ordered a 3rd one.  Dave and his team kept working while waiting for the tub to arrive and completed the items they could in the meantime.  
Once the tub arrived, the rest of the work went fairly quickly.  Dave's team of plumber, drywall, and tile guys were always pleasant and respectful of our house.  They kept plastic down on the carpet from the front door to the bathroom and even though there was a key lockbox on the front door so they could access the house, they always rang the doorbell if there was a car at the house in order to respect our privacy.  In particular, I have to say that we were exceptionally impressed with the quality of work of the tile guy Get It Done used.  Keith was extraordinarily detailed-oriented and took the time to do tile the right way...laying out the spacing and cuts prior to sticking it to the floor or walls.  He even made some suggestions on how to use our decorative pieces to add dimension to the shower cubbies and the result looks great!  We'd have never thought of that on our own.  Additionally, Dave salvaged a piece of countertop that was to be thrown out at another job and asked if we'd like to use it to finish the top of the half-wall that we'd had him cut between shower and vanity areas.  We had not even thought about how to finish that little area and he not only thought of it, but gave us a very good-looking, free solution.  Also, once the decking was removed from the old tub and the old plastic shower insert removed, it was revealed that the plumbing was coming out of the slab at very odd places that did not allow for the specifics of our layout of the area.  Dave and his plumber both immediately suggested minor changes to the layout that would keep the space looking good, being functional, and avoid the cost, time, and hassle of moving pipes within the concrete slab (what a potential nightmare that would've been!).  
By the time the baby was born, the bathroom was completely finished except the glass enclosure for the shower.  It had to be specially cut to fit and couldn't be ordered until everything else was done to ensure it fit perfectly.  We brought the baby home on a Sunday and the glass folks were here to install the following day - Monday.  There was one glitch with it...the glass provider did not have all the parts they needed to finish so only one wall of glass was installed that day.  We notified Dave immediately and he called his glass provider and pulled all the strings he could to get the parts here faster and the glass installed sooner than their estimated Friday return.  The glass provider could not get the parts any sooner, but did agree with Dave that they would give us a discount on the remaining balance of the glass.  
Overall, we were very satisfied with the outcome, the entire team's sensitivity to our timeline with the baby's arrival, their friendliness, quality of work, and overall knowledge of their skill areas.  We still ( a month later) find ourselves standing in our bathroom saying, "this is the best decision we ever made."  It has been a true blessing with the baby since the shower and tub and general layout just work tons better than the old bathroom would have for bathing and caring for the baby and us.  
As a sidenote:  About a week or so after the job was completed and we had been home with the baby, we received a package at the door, addressed to the baby's name.  Imagine our surprise and how touched we were when we opened it to find the cutest baby gift from Dave and Melisa.  It just confirmed our impression that Get It Done is a very capable contracting company but also still operates with the personal touch of family-owned company.  
We have a rental house that will need periodic work and we will use them again for that work as well as any projects we may tackle in the future on our own home.
