I suspect the REASON WHY we did not get "Star Treatment" it's all good though. 👍 I ain't scared. 1 star like you gave us. We don't rake bud. We just mow over them. Those leaves were barely there you could have just mowed over them instead of leaving our yard looking like we didn't just pay somebody."

As a beginner, start by mowing your lawn in symmetrical rows by turning the mower at the end of each row and overlapping with the previous row. Chiggers thrive in overgrown lawns, so regular mowing will deter these annoying mites. It may not remove every single chigger, however, so follow that up with weeding and trimming any nearby trees and bushes. Pay special attention to moist, shady spots, as these are a chigger’s preferred habitat. When all else fails, sprinkle your yard with diatomaceous earth. It kills chiggers by dehydrating their exoskeletons. Diatomaceous earth is basically ground-up shells, so there’s no risk of injury to animals.

It’s best to mow your lawn in the early evening on a clear day. Avoid cutting your grass too early in the morning because it might still be damp with dew—and mowing your lawn when it’s wet is harder on your grass and your mower. Also, try not to mow during the hottest point of the day because the harsh sunlight and high temperatures can put extra stress on the grass.

Yellow patches, poor growth, or widespread weeds indicate a need for treatment. Soil testing can confirm nutritional deficiencies that require intervention.
