Yes, it’s actually common to see more cockroaches after you spray. It might seem like things are getting worse, but that’s usually a sign the treatment is working. Roach sprays and baits can flush them out of their hiding spots as they try to escape the chemicals. Bleach, which can kill drain flies, can also kill fruit flies, but it’s better to lure fruit flies to a liquid rather than applying chemicals, as it’s very difficult to reach them all. When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

The best way to get rid of gnats in the kitchen is by baiting and trapping them with something sweet. Combine water with a few drops of dish soap, apple cider vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of sugar into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and poke small holes to trap the gnat in the liquid.

If your house is full of things that attract spiders, you’re more likely to have a population explosion. When you have lots of cracks leading to warm, secure spots in your home, why wouldn’t they want to come in? Especially if your home has plenty of other meal-ticket insects, like flies, roaches, and fleas. Sealing up obvious cracks and gaps and keeping your house bug-free makes it a less appealing place for spiders.
